Just had CNN on and they have Illinois included among 37 states who are spiking in infections. Illinois has been steady with positivity rate at 2.6%. New cases are up a little but an increase in testing is the explanation. CNN being CNN, misleading the public.

6 deaths and 639 new cases and 27,235 tests for Illinois for 7/5/20. Positivity rate for today 2.3%. Sangamon county positivity is just under 1%. Macon county just over 1%. Cass is 7.6%.

614 new cases and 6 deaths for Illinois today. There were 251 COVID19 deaths in the US yesterday.

The numbers are the numbers, OSU. Hard to be misleading when they are using the exact same criteria to report confirmed cases as they have used throughout the pandemic.

It is in fact misleading and as been misleading from the start. You probably won't see any mention of the fact that COVID19 deaths are on the wane either. They are also hammering Trump for saying that 99% of people who get the virus won't get sick. He's actually probably right about that. CDC says the fatality rate is estimated at .26% or about 1 in 400.
As I've said more than once this Pandemic has occurred during an election year and that's affecting how it's being reported.

ICU bed usage had increased with 320 of 3,920 of those being COVID patients. Only thing you will hear in the media is the increase in hospitalizations.

I think it's time we have a discussion in this country about health that doesn't involve pandemics. We as a whole are mentally sick and no one seems to care. Mass shootings, opioid addiction, etc.

It's pretty easy to think that our country's best days are in the past. The mayor of NYC took the plainclothes police officers off the street. Now violent crimes are 210% higher there than they were at this time last year and shootings 100% higher. We're seeing other examples of these kind of decisions, giving in to angry mobs with bad consequences.

I can't help but think that's the goal. Between the defund the police campaign and letting mass numbers of people out of prison, I can't help but think we're trying to destabilize things to achieve an agenda.

Yep, but it is very likely that the agenda they are trying to create will backfire. The call to defund the police seems to be losing some steam as people are having a hard time finding ways to stop the increase in violent crime in larger cities. Trump stated today that schools will open, that will force Biden and his camp to say the opposite that schools should remain closed. All, and I mean ALL, teachers I have spoke to want schools to open, almost all parents I talk to want schools to open, but the media only shows interview of the AFT and NEA leaders, who back Democrats, and cannot agree with anything Trump says.

At this point, nobody trusts the government, nobody trusts the media, nobody trusts those who disagree with them. People are saying that we will have huge voter turnout with the upcoming election, and I believe with mail-in ballots or not, moderate voters (like many of us) do not have a voice and neither candidate for any government position will listen, so what's the point.

"A George divided against itself cannot stand!" And that is exactly where we are today, we are too divided to make any compromises, and those in the middle (most Americans) are the ones who will suffer.

I wonder if the COVID test picks up all forms of coronavirus? Could that explain the rising positives with the falling death rates? Or is the virus just getting weaker?

That's the most number of tests I've seen for any day which for the most part is driving the increase in new cases.

Sangamon County has 501 cases since the start of the Pandemic. 44 of those have been in the last 3 days. We could possibly be seeing a spike from going to phase 4 on June 26. We'll know for sure next week.
