Re: Chicago White Sox
If they can get Robert and Moncada hitting going into the playoffs with Kuechel back, they're going to be a very, very tough out. They probably have the best catching, 1b, SS and maybe LF players in the AL this year. Abreu and Anderson have been monsters. And it seems Jimenez is one of the most clutch hitters they've had in years. Giolito, Kutcher and either Cease or Dunning is a REALLY good playoff rotation. Dunning has been fantastic.
They have been a lot of fun to watch.

I feel bad for Moncada. Tough watching him scuffle.
Abrieu won the game for them today. I don't think I have ever seen that big of a dude leg out so many infield hits.

I don't think Moncada has ever gotten over being sick. He has been swinging it better lately.19delta wrote:Head Idiot wrote:If they can get Robert and Moncada hitting going into the playoffs with Kuechel back, they're going to be a very, very tough out. There was a story a week or 2 ago talking about Moncada having a hard time getting fully recovered from Covid. Really looks like he could use a few days off.

They are just a fun team to watch. Easy to root for.
Interesting side note, how about all the unconventional baseball jersey numbers? Abrieu is 79, Jimenez 74, Cease 84, Robert 88, Keuchel 60, etc, etc.
The Sox have more guys with numbers 50-79 than some NFL teams!

That seems to be the general consensus.

I've always been a Cubs fan, but with their move to the Marque network, we have Directv and you have to pay extra for that...I've refused to do it...thus have watched much more White Sox baseball this year...and agree, they're an exciting young team to watch. I think I'm going to convert over. Screw the Cubs, their TV network, their owners...all of it!

Re: Chicago White Sox
I also enjoy watching the SOX. They are great.
I hope they clobber the Yankees in the ALCS, and take the Cubs to game seven in the World Series.
I want to see Eloy Jimenez strike out with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth with the Cubs up by one in game seven.
That's all I want.
And then a few days later I want to see Biden beat Trump.
That's all I want.

As big as they are, they look more like an NFL team.19delta wrote:They are just a fun team to watch. Easy to root for.

Except Madrigal. He probably can't ride some of the rides at Great America.

I didn't realize how bad he's been for the Cubs comparative to his time on the South Side.wilky wrote:Teetime wrote:I also enjoy watching the SOX. They are great.

Re: Chicago White Sox
imagine this team if kopech was pitching. even if he was coming out of the pen?
really need bummer back in the bullpen to shore up the 8th. Rodon for long relief maybe? or to take the 5th spot.
I have watched more baseball this year then i have in the last 10. Go Sox.

We have to.listen to the Sox on the radio. We have Dish and they apparently don't carry Comcast anymore. So, I bought a nice AM radio that pulls WGN up here in NW Illinois.
I'm a Cubs fan this weekend. They have a 3-game series with the Twins and can pretty much wrap up the division for the Sox if they win 2 of 3 and the Sox keep winning.

Kinda wish they'd dealt Kopech. Sell high kinda thing.wilky wrote:imagine this team if kopech was pitching. even if he was coming out of the pen?

Plus, anyone that's going to sit out because of a divorce doesn't really seem like a wise long term investment. IMO of course.
The guy won't have pitched in a game for 2 years come next season.

Re: Chicago White Sox
Was just a year ago all my Cub friends were making fun of the Sox because they didnt sign Manny or Harper. Well who is laughing now. With the money saved they have locked up so much of their core for a very long time and the 3 year 50 Million Abreau deal is a freaking steal. Taking 3 of 4 from the Twins was encouraging because they have feasted on the Tigers and Royals and that has caused me to slow my roll for expectations.
Cease has been pretty damn good execpt for a few outings with Walks and Dunning has been awesome. Hell even Lopez lately has thrown well. Next year a rotation of Gio, Dallas, Cease, Dunning and Kopech wow. Agree hopefully Moncada can snap out of thing and Robert but hell he is Young and figuring things out still. Its all about the first pitch with him. When he lays off the first pitch garbage and gets ahead he is a monster when he swings and gets behind early he struggles.
Very excited for the long term future. There is also still alot of talent in the farm system.

Someone must've not stopped the party too early last night. They look like ass tonight.

The Reds have a good line-up and will be a tough out if they get into the playoffs.

I’m not sure he will make the playoff roster. If he does, he should be pitching in my scenario.

Re: Chicago White Sox
Oof. Rough series against the Reds.
Reminded me of 2005 when the Sox played .500 ball the last month of the regular season. Fortunately, that team got red-hot the last week and a half of the season and then rode that into a postseason in which they only lost one game and won the WS. Hoping the same for the 2020 CWS!

This was a trap series for sure.
Oh well, flush it and go back to work. Still have a 2 game lead and 3 games up in the loss column.

Was hoping for some help from the Cubs this weekend. Didn't get much.
Just win these last two series.

Bullpen really let them down last night. And not sure why Renteria wanted to pitch to Ramirez. Why he got ANYTHING good to swing at is beyond me.
