Re: Foles or Trubisky?
Foles was 18 of 34 for 159 Yards and 1 INT before the final drive. He crossed mid field twice and once was on a desperation pass with a very borderline PI call in my opinion.
Just as I thought down 2 scores he would Pad them stats vs a very Loose and extreme 2 High Colts defense going 8 for 8 for 90 yards and 1 TD. A-Rob did make 2 great Catches on that drive.
So the final padded statline looks 26 of 42 for 249 and 1 TD.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
The Bears D held a team that had been averaging 30 points a game to 19 points. Can't ask for too much more other than to expect Mack to hold onto that INT. Zero turnovers.
Their O was miserable. Less than 2 yards per rushing attempt is not going to win you many games. Bear receivers need to do a better job of getting open. Foles was inaccurate with the lone exception of that final drive where the Colts were intentionally allowing short plays over the middle.
Brady up next.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
Offensive issue #1 - they cannot establish a run game. Even in today's NFL, if you cannot run you will not win many games. Patterson is not a between the tackles RB so stop using him as one, he is not your 3rd and short back and I am not sure the Bears even have a short down back on their roster.
Offensive Issue #2 - offensive line was not good. Given the Colts have a stellar defense, they did lose their best player early in the game. Need to block better to continue winning games. Indy had a 2nd and 19, ran up the middle and made it a 3rd and 1. The Bears need to gain the ability to do this.
Offensive Issue #3 - too many dropped ball that should be caught.
Defense was solid but when the offense could not convert a 3rd down it makes for a long game. When you hold a team under 21 points in this era of the NFL, you should be winning that game.
I think Nagy need to realize that with the make up of this team, he cannot follow his Be You philosophy. Good coaches adjust their philosophy to their players and it is time Nagy realizes he doesn't have the horses to do what he wants to do. Take one of the 10 TEs on the roster and make them into a FB for short down purpose, it would help a ton.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
Bears sign Lamar Miller. He was a Pro Bowler in 2018. Tore an ACL in 2019. If he can get back to 2018 form he could provide some help. Montgomery is the only guy the Bears currently have who can run between the tackles.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
For having an offensive "mastermind" this team has been abysmal on offense for three years.

True but Trubisky got there on a technicality. He replaced Jared Goff who couldn't go because he was playing in the Super Bowl.

My dad has taught me a lot of things in my life...one of which is to be an eternal optimist when it comes to the bears. Tampa has several key guys out tonight offensively. Im hoping for a close game. Defense needs to create a couple turnovers if its gonna be.

Haha. Yep. He drinks a lot of Budweiser...maybe that’s why? We are die hard in our family. It’s been a blessing and a curse.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
Miss a throw on 3rd and 2, HS QBs can make that throw
I got a little excited, they put in a FB but motion Montgomery wide
Robinson drops a catch and turns in to an INT
How many deep balls are necessary for 1st and 10? Trust the run game plus it keeps the clock running.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
There's a reason Foles has played for 5 teams.
Then again, maybe both QBs are OK and aren't the problem.
Stares mother \"f\"ing ly at Nagy.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
I know the Bears offense puts the defense in bad situations, but do the stats still validate the Bears defense as one of the best in the league? Because eyeball test says no way...

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
I agree, but I think a lot of that's on Pagano. There is zero imagination to the defense. I don't think blocking schemes are why Mack has disappeared for 2 years and the sack and turnover rate has evaporated as well.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
I can't wait to see Patterson take the kick 8yds deep, run it out to the 20 and then act like he was inches from breaking it.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
The Bears and Foles had a rough 1st half for the most part until Foles settled in late 2nd quarter and they put together a good drive to make it 13-7. Fuller then created a turnover on a great hit and the Bears cash it in on the short field to go up 14-13 at half.
For 2nd half I'd like to see the D get in Brady's face more often, get a few hits on him, maybe force another turnover. If Brady has time he can still carve up a defense.

If Vic Fangio wanted to come back as DC I'd let him.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
When your offense is struggling I’m okay with him returning kicks from deep. He’s legitimately their mvp right now. Does a ton on special teams too aside from returns.

Re: Foles or Trubisky?
Well 2 drives in the 2nd half and nothing. Not to mention a net 34 yard punt after a penalty.
Say what you will about the offense but special teams are terrible.

If the Bears don't start running the ball better I don't see them winning.
