Re: fat man challenge
Dipped down an even 20 pounds off in January, then went on our All-Inclusive week in Punta Cana. Even though we got up at 5:30 am every morning for exercise, that drinking all day stuff put back 5-6 pounds. I've lost most of that since I came back last week.
So, been running most days (2 miles?) and lifting every other. Signed up for the Bourbon County Burn bike ride in October and am buying a new road bike next week. Shooting for 178 pounds by the end of April.
This Intermittent Fasting stuff is pretty easy for me.... I can eat whatever I want between noon and six, but when it comes time to eat, I really don't feel like being terrible.... a peanut butter sandwich at noon, maybe some cereal at dinner.....

Re: fat man challenge
I'm down 25 as of my weigh in this past Sunday. Trying to be consistant.
I too have found that fasting isn't terrible, but my portion control & choices have been much better too.

Re: fat man challenge
I'm down 5 from last Thursday. I started messing with the idea of IF, but only 12 hours at a time. Idk that I could do 18 hours since I work at least 2 16 hour shifts a week it seems. On days I don't work over I usually eat last at 245am, work until 7 and sleep until 230-3. Then I'll usually eat a protein bar before I lift/run. Double days, I just try to keep amounts down.
It's been an adventure trying to line up my schedule with any attempt at dieting. I think now that my shift/ days off are sort of set I need to finally develop a plan.

I've made it down to 280. Concentrating on weight lifting more than I used to but still jogging twice a week.

Re: fat man challenge
I'm down 31 as of my last weigh in. Progress has been a little slower, but I haven't eaten as well either... I find myself cheating a bit more. But I'll take it.
Original goal was to be down 42 by April 2 (4/2)... won't quite make it, but will keep pecking away.

Re: fat man challenge
I did weigh in at 279 last Thursday, the last day we had a teacher work day before the shut down. I don't have a scale at home which may be a good thing...highly doubt I'm still under 280 due to some boredom snacking this week...

Re: fat man challenge
I'm down 25 pounds since Jan 1, to 193. Still like to make 178 before I leave 'quarantine.'
Food has been fairly simple: Intermittent Fasting, which means I eat between noon and 6 only. Unless we're going out to dinner/drinking, then I shift my eating window to 5pm->11pm. Lately, I've shifted to OMAD (One Meal A Day), which hasn't been that big a deal. I do drink 6+ cups of coffee from 8am til around 2pm, which cuts any cravings I have. Started Home Chef, which I like. We do three meals a week with that.
Still horseback riding & hiking, but I bought a road bike to train for the Bourbon Burn Ride in Kentucky in October. It's been a challenge finding safe roads to bike here, but we did an 18 miler (with a 5% grade for 2 miles), and a couple 16 milers this week. Man, carbon fiber is sweet. My bike weighs about 5 pounds.....
My buddy who has a complete home gym is moving in May, so I'm gonna try the Convict Conditioning program for strength training.

Re: fat man challenge
186.8 today. That's 31+ pounds lost.....
In the national park where we live there's a "gorge" with a 13% grade road that winds thru it. Friday, on a whim, I rode the 10 miles there, then another 2 down the grade... then I climbed back out. Without stopping. Ouch.... Then on Saturday we did another 21 mile ride that had a similar climb.
Riding bikes in TN is nothing like riding bikes in IL......

Re: fat man challenge
183.6 almost 35 pounds down.
Rode to the gorge again, this time rode to the bottom and climbed back out. 13% grade is no fun.....
Packed all my "fat clothes" away and brought out the last skinny stuff I have.... 8 pounds away from my high school playing weight....

Re: fat man challenge
I've made it to 275! Honestly, I've been working to hard to get down to this, meaning I've slipped back to some previous eating habits during this school shutdown and my slight weight loss is due strictly to how much I've been working out. Trying to get back into routine in terms of nutrition this week. The last two weeks have not been awful, so hoping I can keep getting better.

Re: fat man challenge
Well, had a bit of a detour, but still hanging in...
April 2nd I fell and broke my right arm in two spots (Ulna & Radial Head). Had surgery to repair on April 29, now the proud owner of 3 plates & 12 screws in the arm. Rehab sucks, but I'll get through.
Plus eating habits went a bit haywire, but still eating better than I was. I'm still down 33 from January, so I'll take it.

Re: fat man challenge
Did a 30 mile ride on Saturday, the longest I've ridden in a decade. Felt good, had another 10-20 in me, but my riding buddies were gassed.
Riding in TN is definitely tougher than IL. In Illinois I just headed into the wind on my way out, and made sure I had a tailwind for the way home. Pretty easy living in Central Illinois with flat prairie in all directions.
Here the roads are crooked, and hilly AF. And you have wind. But there are no options to avoid it. Plus, everybody in TN has dog(s), and none are on a leash......

HAY DAY! 300 bales in 84 degree heat. 180.8 lbs
On the downside, a buddy who was also there had a grabber. Life-flighted to the hospital.

Didn't make it.
Some of you SHG folk may remember my best friend died in the stands during the SHG/Meta Semi in 2006. The guy who died today was my best friend... aged 58. Sucks.....

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend BW. I was at that game in 2006 and remember the incident. Defensively that SHG team that year was really good, one of the very best they've ever had.

Re: fat man challenge
Two months on the road, horse camping, no cardio. Lotsa beer and eating out. Gained 2 pounds. 184.2 today after a 25 mile bike ride.
But I Intermittent Fasted every day.... zero calories (mostly coffee) until 4pm. Then all the beer and food I wanted til 10pm.
Still wanna get to 178, maybe by Labor Day.

Re: fat man challenge
Went to the doctor for a checkup, first time since 2012. He said, "Keep it up!" Blood pressure 120/77, weight 184.
Biking about 120 miles a week, still eating once a day, drinking lots of beer. Woot!
