No major weight gains...but my lack of posting in this topic is an illustration of the success I'm NOT having!

Re: fat man challenge
277 this morning. Wanted to weigh 275 for my talk yesterday, but weighed 278 after my run Saturday. I'll take it. I'm proportioned a little differently than I was at this weight last fall. Little more muscle mass as my lifting workouts have been a little more intense.
Really looking forward to some down time this Easter break. I've been working out 7 days a week for about two months now and the last three weeks I've been only getting about 6 hours of sleep on average. I've got a nagging cold and my knees hurt. I imagine both are a result of starting to break down and not being able to repair. I doubt I'll be up before 10 any of Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Monday of next week.

Re: fat man challenge
My last several weigh-ins have placed me between 280 and 285, which is actually up 5-10 pounds from January. But, sort of like you just posted HB, I have several shirts and sweaters that are fitting me better now than they did back then, so the re-dedication to weight lifting seems to be paying off a little bit.

how much cardio are you doing? why are your knees hurting?

i wish i could do that. i was up at 3:30, 5:15 and 7:00am today.
3:30am-my wife lost her job a couple of weeks back. this was her starting time, so i still wake up then. sucks.
5:15am-my normal waking time. peed. sucked. i was so tired i pulled a gbg2 and squatted.
7:00am-let the dog out and grabbed the daily disappointment, aka jacksonville journal courier, and started reading it.

Re: fat man challenge
I've been running 11-12 miles a week. I should probably give myself a day off, but I don't know. I think I'm addicted. Doing some form of squatting three days a week and then running four days a week 2.5 miles to 3.5 probably isn't that good for you.net wrote:

If it weren't for our kids, I wouldn't even be getting up at 10 now as tired as I am. Last Sunday I got up at 11.

278 today. Now that school is over and sleep patterns and such have sort of leveled off, we're working toward the 272 area by the 28th.

Re: fat man challenge
Ran another 5k this morning in Oakland where my wife works. The first official one since this one in 2012. Ran it this morning in 29:48. Weighed 283 before we left. Felt better, but I still have issues getting into the rhythm at the beginning. Don't know if it's nerves or what, but it's really hard for me to breathe at the beginning of these things for the first mile or so. If it weren't around other people and for the nerves in my head I would probably be running in the 27s. Oh well.Head Bronco wrote:Ran the official 5k this morning in 30:22. Not pleased about the time, but I wasn't "feeling it today" as the kids say. Just didn't have it. It was a struggle the entire way.
Weighed 282 afterwards.
Quit chewing two weeks ago so the weight has taken a hit as I seem to be snacking a little more, but I'll trade off a little weight gain for no nicotine addiction.

Re: fat man challenge
The last two summers, when I was in the best shape of my life, I was hitting the three-mile mark in 33 minutes. Now, with my weight up a bit and doing less running overall, my times aren't real good. I'm normally hitting the three-mile mark between 37-38 minutes.

My dog (my running mate) has come down with Lyme disease, so I find it hard to get out there.... Maybe after her anti-biotics kick in, we can start back again....

Re: fat man challenge
Weighed 271 this morning after my run. Weighed 274 before.
Still working out the same routine. Weights Monday, Wed, now Friday and Sunday. Running Tues, Thurs and Saturday. Have been using my fitness pal app to keep track of food and it's really helping me avoid the yo-yo of losing the weight in the week and gaining it all back on the weekend. Haven't been above 278 in about a month.
Have actually been getting myself some 2X shirts when we order stuff. Hopefully that will keep me on track too.
Still no chewing either. Going on three full months so I have that going for me too.

Re: fat man challenge
I'm still above the 265 I started the year at, but I've been motivated by HB to not use the "in-season" excuse for weight gain. Only a couple weeks in, but I'm down a few pounds now and hope to keep at it.

Re: fat man challenge
For some reason, probably just another part of my "uniqueness", I've always lost weight during football. My months to gain weight are November, December and January.
I would highly recommend the my fitness pal app. It really helps me. For example I weighed 275.5 this morning waking up. Normally I would have bounced from 271 Saturday morning to possibly 281 Monday morning without it. With it, for some reason, I regulate better and I get kept in check.

Re: fat man challenge
No excuse for it--other than laziness, really--but I've gained as much as 30 in one season before. Granted, we made the semifinals that year, so the season was longer than normal!

268.8 yesterday morning after my run. Weighed 272 before (ran 4 miles). Weighed 271 this morning when I woke up.
If I get to 267 that will be the lightest I've been probably since I was a Jr in HS. We keep losing games I might be able to wrestle 215.

Re: fat man challenge
I have quietly been going through some weight loss. I was 217 on July 7. The most I had ever weighed. I just got done mowing the yard today and I was 174.2. The lowest I have been since I was a senior in HS. Meth is a heckuva drug
But, seriously I have worked out a lot lately. Mostly running (ran a 5K in under 19 minutes last week) and crossfit workouts. But, the biggest has been my diet. I didn't go insanely crazy with any specific thing. My wife just made healthier food and I lowered my calories. To a degree, I would say I followed some of the volumetrics diet plan. I look for food that have grams and calories that are on par with one another. It worked well because I still ate a lot but didn't gain much weight. I got an app on my phone and started logging my meals and I think that was an eye-opener to just how much crap I actually used to eat. The log made me be a little more honest with myself.
My goal on July 7 was to be at 175 by the start of wrestling season. I got there a lot quicker than I wanted. Now, I am trying to find the balance of eating some of the junky stuff I like and keeping my weight where it is.

While I still don't want to admit what I weight, I will admit you're kicking my ass at the moment. I'm off to a much better start this season than in year's past, though.

Re: fat man challenge
Thank you! Even with the weight I've put back on this calendar year, I'm almost 40 pounds below my alltime high. Just disappointed in myself that I've gained some of what I had lost back.
