Phase 4 = Play ball!

Phase 4 regions can play games. All sports.

I don't care why, when, how, moving goalposts, political motivations, which way the wind blows, whatever. I'm just happy to have them back.

Anyway, our region needed to be 6.5 or under today to move to phase 4. Drum roll please.....

I am elated they are getting the opportunity. Politics suck!

So our Governor was willing to shut down sports until Trump was gone. Look I don’t like Trump either but such bull****.. Anyway I’m glad we’re back!

Now the issue is going to be the logistics of getting it done, I still think that only the Spring sports will have seasons.

I'll give Democrats credit for one thing: at least they aren't even attempting to hide what this regulations/restrictions were truly about...

Just play the spring the sports, not enough time to get "ALL" the other sports sports in without injuring out kids, having enough officials etc... Especially true at the small schools! It sucks but to attempt anyhting else is ludicrous. IMHO

Yes, but I think there will be some leniency given towards contact days for Fall and Winter Sports, which some schools violate anyway. Maybe an opportunity for scrimmages, 7 on 7s, etc.

As for why now, I think it is obvious. Our numbers are nearly what they were in November when we shut down.

my source-football starts in february. 3 week acclimation and 6 games, football done.

basketball being pushed to may and june. have fun playing in all this un-air conditioned gyms.

play them all. shorten the seasons, except for spring.
i'm not sure dem politicians in illinois can be any more transparent..."leadership"...lol.

Let me say that I'm all for the kids playing, so good news is good news. However, if you go back to August when football should have been starting, the daily average of cases is 3x higher right now, and the daily average of deaths are 5x higher. Also, instead of playing in the great fall weather we had, now the kids can play on the "frozen tundra".

So what happens to baseball / softball / track under that plan? This is exactly the problem with this. I want to coach football this year as much as anyone...but come on. There's no arguing this is political and has been f'ed up from the start. But what good are we doing kids by running them raged for 5 months and then...oh yeah...lets start over and do it again but this time for whole seasons and an entire school year.

Yes basically what this Administration did was similar to what the Big 10 did. In both cases they would have been better off starting on time and in both cases they were unwilling to listen to reason.

I’m not going to be surprised if there are more injuries in this shortened season which happens when the kids aren’t in football ready condition.

Soft tissue injuries are going to be higher, a lot higher, if I were to guess.

Absolutely injuries are going to be an issue for all sports.

As for football, when I was a coach in NC, we had 2 scrimmages. The first was a controlled High THUD and coaches sometimes asked to run something again, it was somewhat like a 7 on 7. The second was just like a typical game but did not count on your record.

Neither were full games that were counted towards a record.

I would love to coach football this year and if we do that would be great and I will welcome the opportunity. Another issue is do you go all out for your seniors or do you use the games to measure what you have coming back in the fall? If there is no postseason, many will have hard time not playing their juniors and sophs for the experience they lost.

Really good points coach...a lot to unpack in a short period of time. Our girls bb coach just texted my wife and said she starts practice Monday and starts games the week after...not sure where she's getting that, but feeling like I'm really glad I don't coach girls bb here right now.

We have 4-6 inches of frozen ice on our fields. That would be safe
