Re: fat man challenge
249.8 after the run today. Really no weight loss progress this week, but really no effort put in, so I'm happy with what I had today.
Squatted 385 for 3 reps Monday on my last set, benched 305 for 2 reps Wed on my last set, wanted to get 3 reps but it wasn't happening.

Worked up to 285x8 on my last set of bench press. Box squats tonight.
My son will turn 13 in May...he's interested in doing a powerlifting contest. I think I might do one with him.

I'm starting to build back up on my bench. On my last two "heavy" workouts, I finished with doing 225 5 times which is the most I've done in a long time, probably several years. In fact, the second time I probably had a 6th maybe even 7th in me, but I didn't have a spotter. Weight-wise, I'm still not down to 265 but getting closer.

Re: fat man challenge
Ran my first ever 5 mile race this morning in 47:34. Got 2nd in my age bracket. Weighed 252 out of bed. I imagine I would have weighed well less than 248 after as I was dripping sweat from my shorts.
My wife won her division in 40 mins. She was 13th overall in the entire race and the 4th woman.
Benched 285 5 reps wed, squatted 385 wed too. Somewhat regularly buying xl shirts now. Life is good.

Re: fat man challenge
Not quite at the 265 I said I'd post, but I will say I'm "approaching" 270. I'd rather not admit how heavy I let myself get over the winter months as I'm embarrassed by it!
I was actually a bit disappointed with my last chest workout Thursday. I did 185/195/200 and I thought I would be able to get all three sets 10-12 reps, but I only got the last one 7 times. I think I had an 8th in me but didn't have a spotter again.
The weight lifting is what I need to maintain my focus on. I, like most people I guess, have had my best weight loss success when I've incorporated strength training with my cardio, yet I have trouble maintaining focus with it over the years. I've also been using Advocare products and those have helped me with my appetite control and just generally better eating habits.

248.8 again yesterday morning after my run. 252 before. 256 this morning. Rae Rae's in Arthur has a really good pizza buffet...
Have to clean up my diet as soon as school's over. Been eating a lot of junk to keep myself going the past week or so. The level of tired is pretty high. Did run my 5 miles yesterday in 49 mins though.

Re: fat man challenge
Weighed 255 this morning.
Did Murph today. 1 mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 body squats, 1 mile run. Broke it up into 20 rounds of 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 squats. I did it in 49:49 and my wife did it in 43:45.
I will now beach myself on my floor and sleep a glorious nap.

Re: fat man challenge
248 this am after a 4 mile run. 251 before.
Ran a 7 mile (as per my Fitbit- the race said it was only 5.5miles) mud run/obstacle course Saturday with my wife. Did it in 1 hour 44 mins. Temps dropped from 68 when we started to 46 when we got back in the car to leave. Pretty miserable 45 min wait to get back on the bus to our car in only a pair of compression shorts and a towel. The reward was I ate 6 pieces of Giordanno's pizza afterward and still ended up losing weight (I had gotten back up to 257 last Thursday). Ended up with 26,000+ steps on Saturday.

Those Mudders always intrigue me. I like to try different stuff like that. In fact, I think I volunteered to do the Car-X Krazy K this fall in Champaign.
I do compete in my first Triathlon this Saturday in Bloomington. I am hoping to survive the swim. If you don't see me posting after Saturday, you'll know the result.

Re: fat man challenge
I think my wife is trying to get me to do the Champaign one. The time of year it is at makes it kinda hard to get to. The one we did was the Muderella one that's supposed to be for women. She did it last year and there are guys who do it so I told her I'd do it with her. The weather at the end made it far worse than it would've been in nice weather. I don't think we got passed by anyone while we were doing it, but we were far more miserable at the end than anyone else seemed to be.
I have zero interest in a Triathlon. Swimming across a pool is about as far as I want to swim in something I can't touch the bottom of.

My first tri was Evergreen in Bloomington. Open water swimming is scary, I don't care what they say. I was swimming 2 miles non-stop in the pool, but struggled with 600 yards in Bloomington. Good Luck, Coach!!!!

Thanks. May be the same Tri I am doing at Comlara Park (Tri-Shark). I am a little apprehensive about the swim portion, but I will don my pink swim cap, and stay out of the fracas. Might even breast stroke the whole thing, just to keep my head above water. I don't like not being able to see what's in front of me.
Shooting for < 2:00

Re: fat man challenge
Well, I reached my goals for the Triathlon.
Actually finished in 1:38:02. Was really happy with how it went, and am considering doing another. The swim was a little sketchy. Ran into numerous times by others.
Considering everything, surviving the swim, and that I biked it on my Schwinn Ranger mountain bike, I finished better than I thought I would. Really challenging physically, but it was fun to compete at something.

Try the Chicago Tri. I'm standing around at 6:00am, ready to dip into Lake Michigan.... Everybody, I mean EVERYBODY, around me has on a wet suit. How cold can it be? Cold. Plus, they channel about 10,000 people thru the starting gates, a wave every 10 minutes... gets pretty, uh, splashy.... but biking on LSD is pretty cool, at least when you have the wind at your back.
I did it with my best friend in 2011. He's a great swimmer, terrible runner. I'm a terrible swimmer, but can run better than him. So I lost tons of ground on the swim, made up some time when he had to take a dump at the bike exchange, and almost caught him at the 5k run. No fair. His family was giving him updates on how close I was, and he'd push a little harder just to stay ahead. Beat me by a minute thirty....

The bike down LSD would be really cool. May be something I have to consider.
