Ran a 5k in Bement with my wife yesterday morning.  Ran it in 29:30.  3 secs faster than the one in Oakland, but not much faster for weighing 20lbs less.  Some kid there finished it in 17 mins.  That's ridiculous.  Got an XL shirt from the race because they didn't have 2x and the stupid thing actually fits.  Who knew?

Weighed 258 today out of bed so hopefully I'm back to my metabolism being pretty high.
Ran the Oakland 5k Saturday in 29:30 again.  Weighed 253 before the run.  The air was soupy as could be so the time didn't disappoint me too much.

Weighed 250.6 Friday morning. Have been trying to eat 200 plus grams of protein a day the past week. Might be paying off as I front squatted 265 and decline benched 245 today. Still squatting 375 and now up to benching 295 for my last set of each. My other stuff has been constantly rising.

This weekend was the most humid one I've tried to run in in quite a while.  I've been doing 4-4.5 miles at a time and yesterday, I wasn't even a full mile in before I literally didn't have a dry spot on my shirt!  I still haven't quite got down to the magical, at least for me, 265 mark but I'm at 283 currently.  Still don't want to admit how much I gained back last fall and winter, but 283 is significantly down from where I was.

I was pushing myself pretty hard January through May to get down so I took a couple weeks off at the end of May.  Not totally off, I still worked out some and was somewhat careful with what I ate, but it's going to take me the whole month of June to undo the damage those two weeks did.

The oddest part of my weight loss this time is it has come with no loss of strength.  I'm actually benching and squatting more than I did at 290.  Been repping 315 3 sets of 5 on squat and 255 3 sets of 5 on bench.
Today I finished squatting xoing 375 my last set of 5 and benched 300 5 reps my last set. Weighed 253 out of bed. This quote is from November.

My wife won her division in 40 mins.  She was 13th overall in the entire race and the 4th woman.

Benched 285 5 reps wed, squatted 385 wed too.  Somewhat regularly buying xl shirts now.  Life is good.

I ran my 1st ever 5K a couple weeks ago. I weighed in at 280, and finished in 48:58.... I jogged the entire course, which surprised the hell out of me. I'm on my way down from a high of 329 in Jan. I have really changed me eating habits, and I do a lot of walking. Also work out on treadmill and bike. Still a long way to go but the scale is headed in the right direction. This is the 4th time in the last 18 years I have lost over 50#. I have over a 100 2x....... I gotta stay vigilant this time. Right now my goal is 270 by Jult 1.

Congrats on the weight loss. That's a lot of yoyoing up and down with a lot of weight. Your body has to be confused as crap.

That's kind of what's motivated me this time around.  If you go by my all time high, I was 335 back in February of 2011.  I got as low as 255 a couple summers ago and currently weigh 281 but there have been a lot of fluctuations in there.  My 281is down significantly from where I was back in December.

My motivation rarely comes from inside.

2008 I lost 115 after being diagnosed with diabetes 2... Walked rode bike and ate 30 or less carbs for 90% of my meals. Took my A1C from a 8.5 to 4.7 in 5 months.

2010 I lost about 60 after hitting 325 again....walking and low carb diet.

2012 I lost 103 after divorce. I did 60 days of all juice. Watched documentary Fat,Sick an Nearly Dead by Joe Cross. I still juice occasionally, and did so pretty regular early in this transformation.

2015 hit 329 in February, started slowly...by March I had dropped prolly 15 or so... Then in April I hit it hard...lowest so far has been 277. I tried weight watchers in February and just couldn't get in to it. May try it again when I get within 20 of my goal weight.

Gym lifts today:

Bench press - 355lbs. x 3 reps
Oly squat - 405lbs. x 1 rep

Strongest I have been in about 3 years. Would like to bench 405 and squat 500 by the end of the summer.

I suck at the Oly lifts but am getting better. Curent PRs:

Clean from Power Position - 225lbs. x 1 rep
Snatch from Power Position - 175lbs. x 1 rep

I have also worked my way up to a 32" box jump.

Squatted 425 x 1 today ATG. Also got 4x8x90lbs on DB incline press. Most I have done on either in a really long time.

Also cleaned 235 x 1 from power position. Not impressive at all but it's the most I have ever done.

Weighed 247.6 after my run last Tuesday. 250.0 after this morning. 4th of July was a killer. Weighed 264 that night. Shocked

Benched 305 my last set of 5 last night and squatted 400 for 2 reps, but went down to 380 for the last 3. Didn't want to push it too much with my wife spotting me.

247.8 this morning after the 5 mile run. 253 before. Was absolutely brutal, but at 730 I was able to get through it.

Tuesday was interesting. Ended up taking 30,500 steps and burning 5,000 calories at our camp.

Have started buying 42 waist pants and they're kind of roomy. Down from pushing the boundaries of 46s. XL Tshirts dont look ridiculous some times either.

i don't know how you're getting so many steps. i get 5k-6k during camp days, and i'm moving extra to get the steps. i usually hit 12k-13k every day and take off the 'jewelery'.

weighed thursday morning at dr.'s office. down 17lbs since 4th week of may.

+1 on the weight loss net. That's awesome.

Tuesday I got up at 530 and ran 3+ miles on the track at Culver Stockton where we went to camp. Walked back and forth from the dorm for all 3 practices and lifted in the afternoon. Was probably a little more than what my fitbit actually said as it died about 330 and I had to charge it for an hour while we waited in the dorm for supper at 430. I usually get 11-14k on non running days and on Tues, Thurs and Sat I'm usually at 8-10k by the end of my run. Depends on if it's 4 or 5 miles. I had 24k on Monday.

Lost 17 lbs (9% of previous body weight) since beginning of June.  My oldest (son) is getting married this weekend, so I've been shedding for the wedding.  Still trying to lose 3 more lbs to achieve my interim goal.  Ultimate goal is to lose 25 lbs total by August 31 and then maintain.  Averages to roughly 8 lbs a month or two lbs a week.   Seems to be working so far.

I've been a desk jockey for decades.  Last time I exercised seriously was as a college athlete in 1978.  Last time I ran/jogged more than a mile was probably 25 years ago.

I do average about 10K steps a day.  I'm eating less carbs and more protein, and drinking lots of water and a lot less beer.  Been weeks since I've eaten any pasta, and I can count on two hands the number of bread slices I've had since June 1.

Damn, I miss beer.

HB, if you come to Culver again next summer, let me know.  That's only a half-hour or so from where I'm at now and, I don't know if you had any kids stay for the linemen camp there as well, but we sent several kids and they loved it.

Haven't made the progress this month I was expecting, but I did finally break through the 280 mark with a 278 weigh-in this morning.  Hoping for a good push to end this summer and start the school year at 265.  First teacher day is August 17th, so I'll need a good push to get down to that!

246.6 Saturday morning after my run. 251 before.

Went on our yearly vacation to Michigan City Monday thru tonight. Decided to buy a 24 hour membership to Planet Fitness so I could lift Tuesday and Wed. Lifted Mon before we left. It was interesting to say the least. Not a free weight in the building outside some dumbells. Also there's a no grunting or basically acting like a serious weight lifter allowed. Lot of machines, cardio stuff, etc. Made my heavy day of bench and squat interesting. Hard to bench 305 and squat 385 5 times each while not grunting. I understand the "no gymtimitaditon" concept, but at what point are you just discriminating against people you don't like? I mean, if you want everyone to feel accepted you can't have a giant siren and flashing light entitled a "lunk alarm" for people who grunt.

Idk. Didn't have to grunt while using the facilities. They are really clean though. There was someone cleaning them all 4 times I went in over the 2 days.
