Crystal Lite...

I've essentially given up all soda since retiring.  Not a conscious choice.... there are just no soda machines in my daily life anymore.  And I don't go to the store that often.

When I quit cold turkey last time I drank the hell out of Wal Mart Great Value Drink Mixes along with a gallon of Water I kept in the fridge to stay cold. The biggest problem is the kids drink the crap out of it and come home and its empty.

Started back in to get ready for the Punta Cana trip mid-Feb.... I swear I gained 10 pounds in the 9 days I was back in IL.... Easily over 206....

Anyway, ran a couple days (2 miles) and hiked a couple (4 miles) then the cold snap hit. So I tried that old 35 lb kettlebell I had in the basement. Holy shi'ite that thing kicked my ass. I never figured kettlebell to be aerobic, but I was huffing and puffing and sweating my balls off after 30 minutes. 10 "moves" or sets, back to back, no rest. Then 1-2 minutes rest. Repeat the 10, rest, then a third set of ten.

Anyway, was 199.6 after my first week, down 6-7 pounds. My glide path is to drop 3/week until Feb 3rd, have a nice off-diet weekend in Nashville, then hit it hard again before Punta.

P.S. The diet is High Fat, Low Carb. Bullet coffee to start the day. Cheese & meat the rest of the meals.

Made my stretch goal today. Down to 165 now from 193 three months ago. Very Happy

Will try to lose two more just so that I can say I lost 30 total.

Maintenance goal is to never be above 170.

A few, but not as many as you might think. Probably has a lot to do with my typical winter attire of sweaters during the work week and sweat shirts on the weekend.

268 last Saturday after my run. 270 this morning which is pretty good for mid week. For some reason, I generally weigh less on Fridays and Saturdays.

Feel way less bloaty too.

Still at 195, but feeling stronger... that kettlebell seems to really strengthen the core. Moved a couple tons of horse feed by hand, barely felt it....

My weight has become more constant--I haven't lost anything of significance since mid-January--but I have almost kicked soda. I've only had ten this calendar year. There was a time in my life where I was having nine a day...

I made it six miles this morning in exactly a 12-minute per mile pace, which for me is good. I decided not to weigh-in afterwards though; I'm going through a funk now where I'll be good with my diet and nutrition for 3-4 days, then I'll be awful for 3-4 days and I'm coming off a stretch of the latter! Need to regain my overall focus...

264 after my run this morning. 267 before.

The clean eating thing my wife has us doing has paid off. Eating over 200g of protein a day, just nothing processed. I think I've found my healthy eating nirvana.
