That is awesome! 2A and 3A are all downstate teams.
I wonder how long until we start hearing the northern schools complain about how they can't win titles!
So we played Nashville in the 2A finals for footballl, now my alma mater is playing Nashville for the 2A finals in basketball. I guess if Nashville wants a state championship, they have to go through me.

Nashville was wild. 5 players played every minute of the supersectional and semifinal.

I was watching Sports Center this morning and that winning shot was number five in the “top ten” plays.
It was a really lucky shot and a very good game. From the beginning it looked like either team could win and it would have been a fair outcome.

I don't know how many of you are active on Twitter and/or Facebook. But, I'll ask anyway: is the talk over Yorkville Christian and SHG winning this year even whinier than normal, or am I just noticing it more as I have friends who work for SHG and am a legitimate fan of how they play basketball?

People are whining about SHG playing in a State Tournament in basketball?
It's the first state tournament in about 70 years in hoops for SHG. Is that too much winning?

I have no problem with SHG, they had a great season and won on a last second shot.
I can see people whining about YC due to them winning almost every game by a very lopsided margin. They have a lot of transfers/recruits in the past few seasons and probably should have petitioned up to 2A or 3A. But it is what it is.

It was a very entertaining game. Once it went to OT I knew it was going to be a tough pill to swallow for the team who lost. With about 4 minutes left in regulation I thought Metamora was going to win it. At the end of regulation and in OT it was the turnovers SHG forced with their pressure that brought them back in it and was ultimately the difference. Both teams were deserving of the win and both gave it all they had.

I used to tell kids they needed a haircut. Now I just laugh, point to their father's receding hairline and tell them their day's coming.

I thought Liberty played terrific! Just fell too short. Given that Yorkville Christian beat 4A Kenwood this year, the Eagles and Coach Altamix did a hell of a job.

SHG and Metamora will face off in a shootout on the campus of UIS next season. Sorry, don't have a date yet. Has been confirmed with MTHS coaching staff.

Don't know. Can't find any details online. MaxPreps just says 6:30, neutral. Not even a venue. And coach is "not responding to requests for comment." Reggie tells me it's at UIS.
