Well if the one customer is the Mayor herself it's apparently ok. What might apply to average Joe's like me and you doesn't necessarily apply to the mayor of the 3rd largest city in the US.

Yep, I've talked to other people these last few weeks and most of them agree with me that we're not getting close to 100,000 killed, let alone twice that number.

What is the interest in the number of dead from CV-19?

In the end, won't we have a pretty good figure in a year or two?

I see the importance of knowing what the trend is in positive tests and where those are occurring...we need that information so that people can start to work again. But I couldn't care less about the death toll unless one of them is me or my family or someone I love or someone I like or someone on this board, even Head Idiot.

A few days ago the models (that also included social distancing data) certainly predicted the frightening growth. NY Gov wanted 30k ventilators. He said two sentences about how he was working with China to fight the virus in China during the SoTU speech.

It wasn't his job to pass along a warning. His job was much bigger than that.

I get a kick out of reading that "this is NOT the time to be assigning blame, this is the time to be fighting the virus". But it certainly is the time to defend the President against any criticism, especially by the President himself.

Isn't "fighting the virus" what we are doing with the staying at home and washing our hands? What more can I do to fight the virus? I think it is the time to give the medical people that are trying to save lives all the support we can, with dollars, equipment, supplies and by moving people to where they are needed. Governors can't determine that the 25 extra medical people thy have in NM are needed in MISS, that is a federal job. This bidding for equipment in which states have to beat each other's bids and the fed's bids is CRAZY. Fixing that is a federal job. Telling the truth to the American people, just facts and the truth is a federal job. The President doesn't seem capable of speaking for ten minutes without lying or blaming someone else for the crappy response we had to the virus. Yesterday it was the World Heath Organization, the day before it was a democrat governor in state X or Y or both of those democrats, the day before it was Obama. WTF?

Agreed. The Biden campaign's best bet is to limit his exposure as much as possible. Now that the attention is fully on him, it has the potential for some really damaging things to happen. I mean, challenging people to brawl and getting in people's faces won't play well when you're supposed to be the unity candidate.

That was a good read. I've done my share of reading on this virus but there were a couple of items in there that I wasn't aware of. The US should have some good antiviral treatments ready to go in several months if or when round 2 hits sometime late in the year. I really think this will prove to be seasonal like the flu. The fact that they should be able to create a highly effective vaccine and that this virus doesn't appear to mutate rapidly is good to hear.
Typically it's 12-18 months to have a new vaccine ready to be dispersed to the public. I saw an interview the other day with the head of Johnson & Johnson and he said that they are fast tracking this and are confident that they can have an effective vaccine ready before then.
I'm aquainted with a guy who works in a hospital in Ohio. When I asked about the hydroxychloroquine/azithromycin combo for treatment he said that it's effective for some patients but some patients don't improve at all.
I don't think the peak has hit Springfield yet. As of yesterday Memorial had 6 patients with the virus and 11 more people that they were waiting for results for. There were a lot of available beds in the quarantine unit and plenty of ventilators.

Here is another...What public officials have spent lots of energy producing and promoting "disaster porn"? And where can I find the opposition and distrust other than the internet? Is there a public official of any repute that is publicly voicing opposition and distrust of the "take shelter" strategy?
