Re: 2017-2018 Head Football Coaching Openings
I wonder, in situations like these, if there is some kind of financial agreement made between the district and the certified staff member who resigns. Although I would imagine that anything like that would require approval from the BOE.
I guess the point of resigning is to avoid being terminated. But in this day and age, potential employers can simply run a google search and anything negative can be found easily. You have to figure that someone like this will probably have a hard time getting a job in education again. Given that, I think that the best course of action is to get fired and take the unemployment benefit.
Unless, of course, you have something to fall back on like a family business or some skill or trade.

There seems like a real chance we will hit 100 new HFCs this year.

And why resign both coaching and teaching gigs? I understand that it is an unpleasant situation but, at the end of the day, there are still bills to pay and mouths to feed. If someone resigns from a job, they are not eligible for unemployment, correct?
May have been told if he resigns they would not contest unemployment benefits.
I know of multiple districts around here who tell teachers they are letting go to resign and they will not contest a claim..

That requires a lot of trust on the teacher's part if they do not have it in writing. If the school decided to contest - say the principal does not get the OK from Supt, etc. the teacher has no recourse.

Right. Honestly, I don't know what I would do in a terrible situation like this. But, I would like to think what would most drive my choices would be doing what I had to do to make sure my family was going to be as well taken care of as possible.
In my case, I can't do anything else. If I can't teach, I'm pretty much unemployable at anywhere near my current salary. So, given that, I wouldn't resign unless I had some kind of financial agreement in writing.

Barry Creviston returns to Routt, which of course opens up the head job at North Greene.

I have no idea, but if not, man that is one hell of a coincidence and fortunate timing for all involved.

1. This move makes no sense to me, but very little does anymore.
2. While googling this news I ran into maybe the douchiest headline I've seen in a while- https://www.google.com/amp/www.sj-r.com/article/20090924/NEWS/309249890%3Ftemplate%3Dampart?source=images

Yikes, that is a very cringe worthy headline HI found!
And, to add to the irony of the Creviston hire, North Greene and Routt play each other Week 1 this season.

Where was Creviston in 2016? I know he was in New Berlin for a while, but I thought he left there after the 15 season.

Not trying to be difficult, but I don't see where it says that. It says he coached there after college in 92 and again before taking the Routt job the first time. I don't care either way, I just am questioning my literacy.
I mean, I've been close to Sterling before.

OK.
I skimmed the article and probably misread it. Not that big of a deal.

Would not be surprised. They were a close-knit bunch of guys. I think a lot of their sons graduated last spring. Sounds like they were really frustrated with this group coming up and the summer workouts.
