just read an article ( http://www.daily-chronicle.com/2018/01/09/future-of-nib-12-still-unclear/a386l9q/ ) about the NIB12 breakup that contained this statement:

"...Sterling just landed two new factories, so its enrollment will go up."

i need someone to tell me the names of these two new factories. this is news to me.

update: the executive director of sterling's economic development entity was asked about these 2 new factories and said "not true"

so much misinformation out there about sterling, sterling hs, and its projected enrollment.  not sure why that would be, but it be.

the rochelle school board approved them leaving the NIB12/10/5 on monday. it was reported that the three major reasons for the change were enrollment, competitive balance, and travel.

can someone explain that last one to me? i think rochelle had the most convenient travel of all the schools in the nib.

I just read that Routt is going to coop with Springfield Lutheran. That’s insane. 34 minute trip one way. May give a nice numbers boost for a year, but I doubt this works out long term.

cs8 doesn't allow co-ops per our conference rules.

SV, CGB, LSA, AO, OV, ALAH, Arcola, Tri Co, VGH, Cumberland and Blue Ridge are "leaving" the LOVC to form a new conference. Essentially, they are kicking out Martinsville, Oblong, Pal Hut and forming a closed football conference.

Personally I think it's BS to kick out Martinsville in favor of Blue Ridge as they've always fielded a team, no matter how many kids they had. One year they literally finished a game with us with 11 healthy bodies and Blue Ridge is what, one year back from death?

Also, I find it super ironic that VGH and Tri Co are sort of spearheading this since they were the main ones who wanted those 3 in as it gave them schools closer to them.

Who is going to be the 8th team in the Interstate 8? I was sitting at Sterling last night looking at the signs of the NIB12 and couldn't think of the 8th team. Here is what we had:

Ottawa
Morris
Rochelle
Geneseo
Sandwich
Plano

I still would like to see sterling in the mix.

FWIW in my opinion if the "conference" is concerned about staying with schools that won't see a increase in enrollment,then Sterling should be the pick. I would think Sycamore would see an enrollment increase before Sterling would with there location in regards to Dekalb.

We've seen that location has nothing to do with it since Geneseo is a member of the newly formed conference.

If Sycamore is invited before/over Sterling... someone from Sterling must have really ticked off the other West schools. Or they did get an invite and couldn't read it

The reason you couldn't think of the 8th team was a temporary illiteracy due to the time in Sterling.

I agree with 4A in that Sycamore has some growth potential. My brother lives there and his subdivision is like many of the others there, barely developed. Tons of lots in town that are already platted out and ready. He talked about growth projections not that long ago.

challenge: i would like to hear the truth from someone regarding sterling being shunned by the new league.
difficulty: without using the words "competitive balance", "geography", or "enrollment".

From what I hear it will take a unanimous 7 votes to approve the eight member...
