Galante is remaining with the school just not coaching. Complicated story. THe AD will have a lot at stake with a new coach lets put it at that.The man can coach and will coach again. Is willing to be an assistant for the right person. Someone in Chicago will get a great assistant coach. One of my best friends who has made me a better person and coach due to our friendship. When you're someplace for 16 years the old adage "Familiarity breeds contempt".

I guarantee there was no head coach in the entire chicagoland area that was at more grammar school games. gyms etc. The man is a tireless worker who gave the Shamrocks all he could give.

High. Perhaps that's just the suburban cost of living increase, compared to central IL.

It seemed low to me for the suburbs. A 1st year head coach with zero experience would come into our district at $5,500.

If that's a set stipend and not a base percentage floor level salary - it's not very attractive to coaches in that area.

I guess I'm just unfamiliar with suburban salaries. Having spent my entire coaching career at one place, I've just grown accustomed to what I felt is normal. A 1st year HFC at SJO would make $4400, I believe. The few positions I've been interested in and researched, always seemed like such a big "raise" comparatively to that amount.

In the Chicago area that is not an attractive stipend either.

Not often you can replace a 6 time state champion HC with a guy with more championships as a HC, albeit in a different sport.

Steinmetz (Chicago) is open.

Their HC retired from coaching after 28 years, not all as a HC, but he told me in person a few days ago.
