2016-17 Head Football Coaching Openings

I was thinking that at some point within the last five years, someone either resigned or got let go literally the day before practice began

Think that was within last year or too maybe at Charleston or Matoon

Charleston coach resigned the first day of practice.

This guy has three convictions for DUI and he still has a job in a public school? WTF?

Don't forget the felony theft from back in the day also. Retains $90,000 AD position as well. Must think he will be hard to replace as administrator (possible because of bad timing), or they could still fire him from that at the next BOE meeting, or it will open if he moves on to another coaching job next year. Seemed like a nice guy when I'd seen him at clinics, but he obviously has a problem. Best of luck to him getting things turned around.

This does not surprise me. I bet there is something that will be opening up next year that he has had his eye on for some time. He is a Monticello grad so maybe an opening on Welter's staff next year. This is pure speculation on my part.

My question is, why do you say something now? Can't wait 3 weeks until the end of the season? Going to be tough getting the kids to fight for you if they know you are leaving.

I really don’t know. But, I don’t pretend to know Coach Albaugh’s motivations for a number of things.

Start date is listed as 6/1/17.

I sent our AD the link.  See what he says back.  Should be pretty funny to hear this one!

Last years listing according to the AD. He said it is gone now.

Mendota open as apparently Coach Sondgeroth has resigned.

Went to college with Coach and wish him nothing but luck. One of the rare art/head football coach combos we’ve talked about.
