I check the site maybe once a week, and I know it's the offseason, but man no one posts much at all anymore.

Tremont was at our 7 on 7 a few weekends ago I think they are planning on fielding a team.

I’ve been wondering that myself. I remember the good old days when this place was alive during football season. We had our annual football pickem contest and we would debate non football issues too. Now it has become a ghost town.

If it were Nigerian, we might be talking. I think IDOC is setting up recruiting centers over there I swear.

At the risk of opening this can of worms, I think there is a direct correlation between members leaving this site or posting less the more political topics get. No offense to you guys, but I don't care about your political views. I think the best way to get people back- if possible at this point- is to keep topics sports-related and non-sports-related topics lighthearted.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Let’s talk sports. This country is divided and politics lead to arguments. I don’t care if you guys are Democrats or Republicans. I know many good people who identify as both.

Sorry, I didn't see this until now.

Last June I promoted to be a Correctional Counselor at Lincoln (men's) Correctional Center. Did that from June to November. In November I promoted again to being a Staff Development Specialist at the IDOC training academy in Decatur. So, in a roundabout way, I'm back to teaching.

It's a pretty nice gig, but the academy runs 6 week classes. Meaning every 6 weeks we get a new group amd we start the cycle over again. It gets a little tedious doing the same stuff every month. It's like you teach about the Roman empire, but that's all for 3 weeks every 6 weeks.

I don't know that I'll retire from working at the academy (I can go April 1 of 2030 if I don't save sick/vacation days, but I'm going try to go Jan 1 2030), but it's a decent gig.

I don't plan on ever coaching again. I was approached a couple times to be an assistant the past couple years. One was a JV HC job. I just don't want to. I miss Friday nights, but any time I go to my son's wrestling meets, I remember I don't miss HS boys. I've thought pretty seriously about becoming a ref. But the real money in that is in doing JFL games, and I don't want to spend all day Sat or Sunday at those.

I'm still around, just not as frequently. I miss the banter from many of the old school dudes, and I'm not as connected as I used to be to the high school game.

Good to see you still alive and well.  How are the kids?

They're good. My daughter is a soph/Jr at SIU but is doing online this year. She's having a bit of a rough go at it, but she's doing better. No longer lifts, but that's water under the bridge. Unfortunately for her, she still looks just like me.

My son's a Jr. And huge. 6'2 240 and very, very blonde. And not playing football. But, that's a long story and I'm pretty much on his side with it. Benched 285 last week and squatted 400. He still wrestles though. Was 215 last year. Right now, we're trying to decide if he wants to try 215 or challenge for HWT.

Wife is good. She has a masters in special ed and is back working at CG.
