Re: Phase 4 = high school football?
Obviously the high school sports situation had very little to do with this choice, but we have decided to head to the Nashville area.. my GF starts her job down there in a few weeks, I will head down there end of May. This state is an absolute joke..

Two of our best freshman athletes transferred over to Indiana before the season started. I know one of them was starting on the varsity. Not surprised at all given the fact that he would have started for us last year when he was in 8th grade.

Cross country runners going to have a "state" meet anyway-

Basketball is a mess - from the IHSA announcement:
There is a push to move basketball to spring/summer with wrestling, track, and baseball.
I have my doubts about football starting in February. August/September would have been safer.
IHSA wrote:The Board revealed that among the 546 schools who responded to the survey (IHSA has 813 member schools), nearly 300 IHSA schools do not plan to start basketball on November 16, and another 212 schools remain unsure of their status.

With 12,000 + reported cases a day I’d tend to agree with that.

Every High School kid should just get to redshirt this whole year and take time off for whatever. Not only are they being deprived of Sports, clubs and other activities but with remote learning etc they are getting screwed out of hands on quality education and nobody is coming out better from any of this.

Class of 2020 got the sympathy, but Class of 2021 is getting screwed far more unless something drastically changes these next few months.

Illinois is the only state to lose people for 7 years in a row, the agency said.
From July 2019 to July 2020, the population dropped by nearly 80,000, which is equivalent to the city of Bloomington.

There were 10 states that lost population in the US in 2019, mostly Northern states. Illinois was #2 on the list.

I have one daughter that lives in STL and another in St Louis. That makes it more difficult for me to want to move far away. I admit though that on a lot of levels Illinois sucks.

Seems like living in St Louis would be a good spot...OSUBucks wrote:Head Idiot wrote:Illinois is the only state to lose people for 7 years in a row, the agency said.

I think that's right. I guess it depends on where you live in that particular city. My daughter lives in the West/Central end of the city. It seems pretty nice. I've never seen a crime committed there on the occasions I've visited.

At the same time, there's so few D1 programs left, pretty much anyone halfway decent going to be ranked in the top 25.
