The 2016 Presidential poll was actually pretty close. They had Hillary just 2-3% ahead and she did win the popular vote pretty close to that.

The Italians also have the world's 2nd oldest population. Old and sick people should be afraid as that's who is dying from this. I would wager the death rate for healthy people is probably well under 1%.

And are you really denying the Dems have tried to make this a campaign point for the past 2-3 weeks?

Yep, for 80% of Americans who contract this, the symptoms will be milder than the flu and this includes children. It's the other 20% that they've obviously worried about. I think the casualty rate will get worse though before it gets better. I do agree with Tee in that it's better to overreact and save some lives than to under react.
What this is doing to the economy doesn't bother the Democrats though I can tell you that. As Rahm Emanuel said, never let a good tragedy go to waste.

Of course, you didn't answer that question. Politicians will make fodder out of sawdust...the point was that we SHOULD over react in the interest of saving lives.

It's just that there isn't anything republicans or democrats can do about the pandemic's effects on the economy. Do you think if we all got together and pissed and moaned about the stock market that it would get better? Those stock traders are steely-eyed pragmatists. They are not scared off by loudmouth democrats or republicans.

I don't think that the politicians from either party can do much about the current state of the stock market. What I'm saying is that the Democrats aren't too upset about it because it came at a good time for them politically and they are pointing accusing fingers at Trump at every opportunity. There was a Democrat from Massachusetts on the evening news tonight blaming Trump for the lack of testing kits for the virus. I guess Trump should just snap his fingers and 50 million test kits will magically appear.
The Democrats badly want the White House. The unemployment rate has been at historic lows under Trump and the economy has been good. Now just in time for the Election here comes the Coronavirus and the stock market is in free fall. The Democrats are going to milk this to their advantage if they can.
