I lost a projected starter in football because he made the varsity cheer leading team. Our varsity football team had a week one defensive starter in both 2016 and 2017 who by the playoffs was off the football team and cheering for us on the sidelines.

For all the reasons I've heard of kids not playing over the years, I'll admit that's a new one to me!

We had a kid do that at CGB. I think it was in 14. Kid probably would've seen varsity starting time as a CB/WR.

There was a junior on the 2014 EPC 2a championship team who did cheer as a senior. Played quite a bit that championship season and would have been a 2-way starter and probably an All-Conference selection as a senior if he played.

EPC ended up 2-7 in 2015. Maybe he saw what was coming and quit while he was ahead.

Did he marry one of the other cheerleaders? Male or female?

That I don't know. I don't know what he did after high school.
