He wasn’t the coach this year was he? I thought it was their DC who got the job. I didn’t think he was interim either.

Assistant coaches Tad DePorter and Brett Zick acted as co-head coaches for the 2017 football season. Elder continued his athletic director duties.

Best job? Richmond Burton if you get the AD part with it.

Due to recent success I would say that Johnsburg may be a good place.

If I was to pick the best available, here's the group I'd look at:

Normal Community: Great history, great area. solid conference. Don't know what's in the program, but this one would seem to be a great opportunity.

Downers Grove North: Solid district, pay is good. Conference is a bitch.

Freeport: A solid conference, solid football reputation. Could be fun.

Normal West: Ditto Normal Community.

Ottawa Township: Could be a sleeping giant. They have athletes, but football program needs a total overhaul. Will be the largest school in the I-8 in two seasons with great opportunity to win.

Hampshire: Beautiful school, nice facilities. Tough sledding as the smallest school in a conference that features Prairie Ridge, Cary-Grove, Huntley, and Jacobs. I really wanted this job four years ago when Brasile got it. I'd love a shot at it again. I'm probably biased as an alum, but I'd love a run at it... just probably not going to happen at this point in my career.

Richmond Burton: Probably the best smaller school on the list (4A). Always strong tradition and a conference you could win with consistency.

Johnsburg: Same as Richmond. Literally. Same conference, same enrollment (a touch smaller), though not quite the tradition.

Pontiac intrigues me as well, but I didn't realize how much their student population has declined in recent years.

I had kind of wondered if a downturn in talent or future may have helped the departing coach's decision or otherwise I think it is a top job too.

Real good take on the jobs by Horse...a couple of thoughts.

This might be a tough gig and sounds like the admin knows it. A lot smaller than the rest of NIC-10 and Rockford publics are a lot better than they used to be.

Johnsburg: Same as Richmond. Literally. Same conference, same enrollment (a touch smaller), though not quite the tradition.

We have not seen them since 2015 but those that played them the last two years have said lower levels struggled. They might have overachieved a little at varsity level this year.
