Football 2023

Metamora is losing their week 1 opponent, Peoria High, to the new CS8/Big 12 crossover agreement.  Word around town is we already have a replacement lined up.  

Anyone associated with Sterling High School that can confirm little Johnnie Schlemmer is coming home and bringing the Golden Warriors with him for a week 1 contest?  

Also, the 'Birds go back to LaSalle Peru week 2.

shg opens with normal community and rochester with peoria hs.

i was looking at some of the match ups. senators play normal west. i thought this should have been a chatham opponent.

Any early indications of more 1As going the 8 man route in 2023?

We are still looking for a week 9 opponent.

Per several sources on Twitter, Rock Island Alleman will not be fielding a varsity team this fall.

Wow, it’s not exactly ancient history when Alleman was fielding some very good football teams. They got to the state finals several times but I don’t believe they ever got the championship.

Some were critical of a reporter for tweeting it before the school released an official statement. However, Moline's Twitter account technically broke the story as they posted they were looking for a game and it matched up with the week they were supposed to play Alleman.

Isn't that a reporter's job?  They are supposed to do more than read press releases.  Not that you'd know it these days.

To Chuckam's point...that Mt. Carmel press release makes for a better read than any local newspaper sports story I have seen in two years.

Perhaps, but it looks like it was written in a hurry and not proofed.

There was incorrect usage of an apostrophe in the second sentence of the third paragraph that resulted in what should have been a plural noun (schools) becoming a possessive noun (school's) instead. Oddly, the author spelled the plural form of the same word correctly in the immediately preceding sentence.

In the fifth paragraph, the word "Says" should begin with a lowercase letter to attribute the preceding quote to Jordan Lynch. As it stands, the capitalized word begins a sentence fragment.

Also, in the final paragraph, there were two errors in which double quotation marks were used instead of single marks to denote quotes within a quote.
