Longest current winning streak?
Defending 2a champion GCMS is at 22 consecutive wins. What other schools are hoping to extend a long winning streak?

Two losing streak facts
When I was growing up in the 60's, Peoria Woodruff had the state record for the longest losing streak of 49. When I got my first teaching/coaching job at Litchfield in 1977, they had the state's longest losing streak at 27. We hit 30 before we broke it (in a torrential downpour at the Pana Homecoming game on a trapped pass the ref called a TD). Got a ride on a city fire truck when we got back to Litchfield.

Re: Longest current winning streak?
Lamar, MO, currently has the longest winning streak in the nation at 57.
All that winning comes at a cost, however.
The streak is all that everyone is talking about, Lamar head coach Scott Bailey said. He wishes the talk would go away, saying the "fear of failure" allows his team to continue to win, but it also takes away from some of the fun he wishes they were having.
"Our kids have gotten themselves to the point where winning is a relief," Lamar head coach Scott Bailey said after the August 24 game. "If you looked at the kids tonight, as soon as we got a lead, everyone took a big sigh of relief. That's sad for a high school kid to have that much pressure on him to win a game that it's a relief when they know they're going to win.
"It's the truth. That's what's happening with our football program. My job as a coach is to try to get those kids to enjoy themselves."

Is it Pittsfield that has the longest winning streak? Didn't they not lose a game for like 7 years or something? Back before the IHSA was started?

64 in a row from 1966-73. In fact, the 1970 team didn't allow a point.
