Impressive win by RC tonight, watched most of it online after work. They got after it tonight and dominated Coal City. I’m not sure if the outcome is a total surprise, but I think the margin is.

Sounds like they took it to the Coalers while th Coalers couldn't get anything going defensively. The projections had RC losing this game so it may help their seeding but they will have to get past Kewanee, Princeton, Byron, or IC and likely in the 2nd round. That is no easy task. Wilmington will likely have to get past Mac, Farmington, Bismarck Henning, or Tri Valley, also not an easy task. Hoping both teams get to the quarters and maybe further.

Re: Week 8 Scores
Wanting to get some fan/coaching opinion here.
On Friday we intercepted a pass on the 2nd play of the game, go on offense, they have 11 in the box, we score on first play. We were rolling from the get go.
The opposing team goes for it on 4th down from their -24, -37, -21, and -32. We won 45-13 because they threw on our 2nd team along with an onside kick which we recovered. Some would say they were playing to get back in it and if so, why not punt on the 4th downs instead of giving us a short field? We had a total of 278 yards with 6 TDs. I don't get it.

They knew they could not stop you. They had to take some risks to have a chance. I don't know what the 4th down distance was on those plays, but that is pretty deep in their own territory. Did they ever punt? Was it ugly? Maybe they have the Kevin Kelley philosophy?

They punted on 2nd drive 4th and about 5. All the times they went for it the distance was over 10 yards.
Even if you can't stop the opposing team, at least attempt to make them drive the ball further than 30 yards to score.

Re: Week 8 Scores
Normally 99.9% of the time, I’d say a team would be crazy stupid to continually go for 4th downs deep in their own territory.
The only time this thought ever crossed my mind was when I saw 2016 IC. My honest recommendation against them would be to never bother punting because they could almost literally score at will with the combination of great line play and crazy speed for the 3A level, especially when they were on their turf.

I know Reed Custer hasnt had alot to celebrate in Football really ever but for a team with all of this hype this year I think the Police and Fire escort after the 5th win a few weeks ago is a little over the top but hey dont let me be the fun police.

Did the fans storm the field and tear down the goalposts?

Re: Week 8 Scores
Not to say it isn’t a little much, but I believe the RC “escort” met the team on their way back from Streator, which was their 6th win.
As far as the Fun Police, they will show up in the playoffs at some point.

Correct it was after their 6th win.
