ramblinman wrote:dusty7 wrote:Why did our imported oil from Russia increase from 2019 - late 2021? If or production was so high and was increasing, why did we increase our trading of oil with Russia?
Perhaps Trump wanted to make nice nice with his genius buddy Putin, and he encouraged American companies to import more Russian oil. More likely, it was to help make up the shortfall created when Trump sanctioned oil imports from Venezuela in 2019.
Sure, that's reason that Russian imports went up from 2019 to 2021. It wasn't because Russia kept oil production up when everyone else cut back...it was because we quit importing from Venezuela. Now we quit importing from Russia. If I had my way we would quit importing from Saudi Arabia, but when we cut off sources for outside oil it gets pretty expensive.
Plus, oil is a world wide market. Gas stations here are going to base their cost on the world wide oil market. If 100% of our gas came from ground or sea beds under US control gas would still cost $4.75 a gallon right now down at the corner.

Its not about gas prices, but at the Wildcat Indoor Invite at IWU, Allison Ince, sophomore from Normal Community ran a 56.27 in the 400. Last year at the the state meet, she won the 3A 800 and 1600 and I think set state recordist both. She also came back from 50m deficit and beat a very good SHG team to help Normal Community to a win in the 4x400 tonite. What would been a great race tonite to watch would of been Ince vs. Katelyn Lehnen, freshman from Chaham, in the 400. Lehnen won the 60 in 7.75 and did relays. Lehnen is an excellent sprinter and will be a force in the state the next 4 years.

lehnen is very special to watch. i believe she brought home 12 medals from iesa state meets. track coaches at cg were very nervous because she is such a phenomenal soccer player. she is a VERY special athlete.

I am very happy this wasn't done. It is probably about the stupidest idea I have seen from our government.

I agree with the Democrat who said that it would be expensive, poorly targeted and worsen inflation. In other words , similar to the stimulus checks.

Illinois has the second highest gas taxes/fees in the country. Costs $0.78 per gallon just for the taxes/fees. Could even be a higher in certain towns/counties if they have their own tax. For example, its $1.02 per gallon in Chicago.

$4.17 at numerous stations in Springfield. Lowest is $4.14 at a couple stations. Prices have actually decreased for 3 weeks but it’s decreasing slowly.

if you're passing by jacksonville, get off at south jacksonville exit and go to main and vandalia. it's maybe a 1.5 miles to get gas for $3.79/gallon.

Re: gas prices
Wasn't able to make it to Jax, but filled up for $4.09/gallon on the Thornton's on Peoria/Sangamon.
Then when stopping in Tremont for a break ($4.49 at the BP off 155), I felt great about filling up in the Patch until I saw $4.01 in Chillicothe and $3.98 in Dixon.
Henry: $4.49
Princeton: $4.29
