Re: Mean Gene RIP
I just started watching WWE again after 20 years. No doubt the guys in the ring are more talented, but can't hold a candle to the pop and charisma of the guys from the Attitude Era.
Mean Gene, JR, and Lawler kept you in the matches and made everything else interesting. I miss it!

Re: Mean Gene RIP
Their focus on being "family friendly" is stifling some good talent. If you watch the Southpaw Regional Wrestling stuff, they have good ideas, it's just not allowed to develop. It's boring as crap right now.tincup1215 wrote:I just started watching WWE again after 20 years. Re: Mean Gene RIP
I was about 11 or 12 when Stone Cold flipped the bird to Vince McMahon and then game him the Stunner. Also about the same time Mankind got thrown off and through the cage by the Undertaker. Didn't realize how spoiled I was at the time compared to the PG product that's out now.
I will give the women a lot of credit though, they are actually very entertaining and I don't mean that in a looks kind of way. I'm more interested in their storylines and matches than the rest of the roster.

Mean Gene did a great job playing the straight man and was at his best when interviewing the likes of the Macho Man.

I have no idea who you guys are talking about.
In my parent's house....no comic books, no wrasslin'.
By the time I moved out of their basement at age 48, I had no interest.

I'll watch Monday night raw at 7, 8 and 9pm only to hope for a good mic session. Today's guys are absolutely class A ball compared to the Rock, Stone Cold, New World Order, Degeneration X and so on. This fool with his guitar Elias has some good stuff when he's clowning the host city but the core guys are not interesting at all. The women's matches are boring to me and their storylines are terrible.

Re: Mean Gene RIP
I listened today as the ESPN guy based in Miami replayed some of the "interviews" with Gene. Dan Lebitard?
It was very funny. Gene had a fantastic sense of humor.
