Hats off to Du-Pec. I have seen the St. T. team on film and their defense is super quick and physical.

Looks like IC petitioned up to 3A. The Dawgs of St. T are probably the favorite in 2A with IC out. But some familiar 3A teams may be dropping down (Vandalia, Pana, Wilmington, Nashville, Farmington, Fairfield, and Bishop Mac).

I read on one of the message boards that there was a deadline for petitioning up and it had already passed.

Soucie stated they petitioned up on his Twitter. Maybe he was misinformed a few weeks ago or the IHSA made a "special rule" to accommodate them, which is probably for the best, well except those in 3A.

What's your point? That Driscoll, Mt. Carmel and JCA had some extraordinary success long ago? BFD
No, just curious what public schools in the past would have had the success multiplier applied to them. Other than Rochester, I can't think of any public schools that have had consecutive state championships multiple times.
I believe if you are going to apply a success factor to privates they should apply to publics as well.
When Morris played in the Suburban Prairie (Early 2000's), we were often moved up a class based on our average enrollment of our opponents. For example, when we won the state title in 2005, we had an enrollment of 1010, which would have put us at the lower end of 5A enrollment-wise, but we ended up in 6A (1350 FBE). The next year (2006), we were 1015 enrollment, had a FBE of 1450. It's not the same as the success multiplier, but we were heavily affected by it.
In the end, we really just adopted the attitude of put a team with a different color jersey on the field against us and we'll go out & do our best to beat them. Respect all, fear none. That seemed to work well for us.

Mac is going to be hard pressed to make it to 4-5.

Really? Should win this week vs ACC and follow that up with Wheaton St. Francis and IC, probably both losses but I could see them beating St. Francis. Plus that is their last home game with Coach Z so I am sure those kids will do all they can to win that one. Then they close up with Riverside Brookfield, which I would assume is a victory for Mac unless RB is much improved compared to recent history.

Yes, they'll beat ACC to go 3-3 on the season after this weekend. I don't think they beat St. Francis. The IC game is a definite L. Then they will be 3-5 heading into the final game with R-B.
