I'm looking for Trump to nominate a woman. She'll be a Conservative woman though.

My bet is on Lagoa. ACB was pummeled for being Catholic last time. Lagoa probably is too, but at least she's Hispanic.

I'd like to seem him nominate a black female.. then watch CNN melt down.

Strategically I think she's a very good pick. She's Hispanic and she's from Florida, a state critical for Trump to win. Biden already has a Hispanic problem in Florida. He'll have an even bigger problem with them if Democrats oppose the nomination which they are certain to do. Biden could still win the election without Florida though but it gets a little more difficult. It looks like both Collins and Murkowski oppose Trump putting forth a nomination before leaving office. He loses a couple more votes and he's short. Grassley and Romney are a couple more GOP members that come to mind that might not vote for Trump's nominee.

Lagos won confirmation last year 80-15, one of the most lopsided Trump confirmations. It'll be fun watching the dems who voted yes backpedal this year.

True, and it wouldn't be the first time Democrats have exercised hypocrisy when it comes to sitting a new SCOTUS justice. This is ALL about ideology.

If it was the right one (left of center) they might be ok with it.

Trump should definitely nominate a black female.

Let’s see if he can find one that his base could stomach.

Most (including me) are focused on trump making this happen. He merely makes the nomination. (Same as obama did). The Senate confirms. For reference, 29 scotus openings in election years. 29 nominations. 19 openings with same party pres and senate. 17 of those years confirmed a justice. 10 openings with different parties, 2 confirmations.

BREAKING: An accuser has already stepped forward with an allegation against the Trump nominee. Sources familiar with the matter say they are just waiting to know who they are accusing before releasing more details.

Right. Maybe satisfying the base wasn’t a complete enough list of qualifications.

😉

Merrick Garland was confirmed 76-23 for his appeals court job when Clinton appointed him.

dems are talking about packing the supreme court (adding judges), impeaching trump, impeaching barr, adding states (DC and Puerto Rico) ...that reaction seems a little extreme. there's also the 'normal' stuff too...burn it down...there will be riots...etc, etc.  this is not an unprecedented situation.

I read somewhere that will make seven out of nine Justices who are Catholic!

How did non-catholics ever get on the Court?

Now is the time for the Catholic schools to sue the IHSA. We finally packed the Court.

As hard as this may be to admit, because I think Trump is a complete waste as a government leader, I understand where the Republicans are coming from as far as nominating and not feeling like they're being hypocritical. When Obama nominated in Feb. of 2016, everyone knew he would be out as it was his 2nd term. That's obviously not the case here. Also, the Senate and the Presidency were not in conjunction back then...they are now as Republicans control the Senate and the Presidency. I'm not saying I like it, because I still think this wreaks of everything that is wrong with our government right now; but I do see their argument in how they are justifying what they're about to do. And lets be honest, don't think for a second that the Dem's wouldn't be doing the EXACT same thing if the tables were turned...again, evidence of how our government has completely gone in the toilet.

They should. If Republicans go through with this, it wreaks of the fascist takeover they've been decrying for 4 years.

full blown arson and murder riots? really?

I don't think McConnell will get a Christmas card from Schumer this year. Right now it looks pretty favorable for Trump getting his appointment confirmed.
