It absolutely has been overblown. When it is all said and done it's likely that this isn't going to have near the impact that influenza has had this flu season. As of yesterday there have been no Coronavirus deaths in the US outside the state of Washington. Of every 50 people who contract the disease 49 will survive. Some elderly folks or those with compromised immune systems are the only ones at risk of dying if they contract the disease. Meanwhile so far this flu season the CDC estimates that the flu is responsible for between 18,000-46,000 deaths in the US.
The question I have is why is it being overblown. I suspect that it has something to do with the fact that it's an election year and that a lot of the mainstream media wants to see Trump lose.

I rarely watch Fox. I generally watch ABC news. I'm not a Conservative either. I consider myself a Moderate with a Libertarian streak.

I was wrong to drag Fox News into this. There is no way that US politics is canceling flights and cruises and gatherings of people all over the world.
Might this be an overreaction to the malady? Sure.
It might be an under reaction also. It looks like there is a strain of the virus that is way more deadly than the ordinary flu. Maybe by a factor of ten or twenty. There is no vaccine as there is for the regular flu and it might spread easier than the regular flu.
It seems logical to over react given all of those factors because you only get one crack at trying to stop its spread. Once it has spread you can’t go back and change your initial reaction.

Actually, yes. The bubonic plague is on the rise. Especially in places like Madagascar and western portions of China. As recently as 2015 there were 20 cases of it and 4 deaths in the US alone. As I was just working out I looked up at the TV and noticed Hillary Clinton was just on CNN to talk about "US response to coronavirus". I'm sure that appearance was completely because of her years of expertise on the matter and not politically motivated at all right?

Yeah, I saw some of the Sunday AM shows and the Democrats aren't wasting any time blaming Trump for the way he's handling this. Rahm Emanuel couldn't get the grin off his face when talking about how things are only going to get worse for Trump as the casualties mount. Rahm predicted that within 2 months widespread public events will be canceled across the country. At least that's what he's hoping. Excluding Washington state the US death toll has now climbed to 3. It's really disgusting that some want this to get worse just to insure that their party wins the White House. IMO Biden will probably win regardless but it's still too early to bet the house on it. Seven months is an eternity in politics. Much of the media coverage continues to be politically driven, no doubt in my mind.

Who made a claim that there were no politics in the Corona conversation and response? Certainly not me.. I said that the worldwide response was not because of US politics. I contend that the response is because the problem is real and it’s way better to over react to an epidemic than to under react.

Really? I've not seen anyone saying that (except Biden). Course, I live in a Trump bubble, but even as I travel I don't see people predicting a Biden win. Many WANT a Trump loss, but no one has said Biden could do it....
