Of the 1,000 plus articles I written in the papers, this may have gotten the most feedback.

I will admit I'm not a very religious person, but even I find it very odd that youth wrestling and basketball tournaments often start as early as 8 a.m. on Sundays...

great article andy. times are definitely different.

i am glad that Catholic churches offer Mass at various times on Saturdays and Sundays and that the times, days, locations, etc are readily available on the internet.

my son played "travel" baseball and/or basketball for 10 years and we NEVER had to choose between attending Mass or a game (had that happened, Mass would have been the choice and he understood that). it ALWAYS worked out that we could find a service that didn't conflict with the weekend's sports schedule.

A brave article. Our school avoided Wednesday night for years, but I notice more and more games scheduled for Wednesdays. Girls basketball tonight for example.

Our school won't schedule anything on a Wednesday, but is available as a makeup day for weather postponements. We had basketball games postponed yesterday that will be made up this Wednesday.

I've never understood the practice of Wednesday church, but scheduling athletic contests for Sunday is just BS. But, wtf do I know.
