Good for you. That is the first step in treating your addiction.........recognition of the problem.

Re: Bears and Trubisky
I'm still not a super fan, but I am back to watching them when able and not feeling utter shame in wearing a sweatshirt occasionally.
Don't think I'll ever get back to my level of fandom from 84-2007ish. Just too much other stuff in my life to do now. Maybe when the kids are gone I'll pay more attention.

That TO before half was unexplainable stupid. And cost them the game. \"f\"ing.

Bears played well, especially defense. Still worries me that our only touchdown was by an O-Lineman on a gimmick play. Rams offense had their worst game of the year. They won't play that bad again against the Bears. Yes, the Bears D had a lot to do with that, but I don't see us holding the Rams to 6 points again.

Re: Bears and Trubisky
The defense was very impressive. Maybe the best Bears defensive performance in a decade. The offense looked like Trubisky hadn't played for 3 weeks. If they can take it up few notches offensively in the next few weeks, they have as good a shot as anybody in the playoffs.
I mean, the Rams, outside that big nationally televised game with the Chiefs, haven't exactly beaten up the good teams they've played. They're most lopsided victory against a team that would currently make the playoffs was a 12 point win against the Chargers in Week 3.
I think the team that would really give them trouble is New Orleans. It's near impossible to rattle Brees and I think he could handle the Bears' biggest asset in all the pressure they can bring.

Re: Bears and Trubisky
I did not realize the very real lack of depth the Rams put on the field. Their elite talent is amongst the best in the game... Gurley, Goff, Donald... but their receivers were really lacking and their O-line looked truly haphazard at times. Their defensive back seven should have been better, Peters is a good player, although Talib may be fading.
I was very impressed the way the Bears handled Donald. The offense wasn't clean, but they were able to neutralize him, and I thought they exposed the LA linebacking corps a lot with their run game.
And the Rams didn't want ANY part of the weather.
Trubisky has to play better, and I think he will. Even though this weekend doesn't look like much on paper, the Bears have to get over the psychological hump named Aaron Rodgers to move forward.
I'm not drinking the Super Bowl Kool-aid, but I am loving the turn around from last season.

I don't think I'm drinking the Kool Aid either, but if they can play that level defense in the playoffs, they're going to give themselves as good a chance as anyone else has.Horsefeather wrote:

This team reminds me of the 84 team. Young, exceeding expectations, probably a year away. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see them go on a 84 type run here at the end of the year. I think, should they be able to keep Fangio, they can really make a serious run at it next year with a couple offensive additions. Or maybe none at all, just get older and more experienced on that side of the ball.

Re: Bears and Trubisky
I'm also not sold on Goff being the real deal. When it came down to him making a play, he looked terrible. I think a lot of his success is his being carried by an elite defense and running back. Maybe he's not as bad as Rex Grossman, but I also don't buy that he's Joe Montana that just needed to get out of Jeff Fisher's terrible coaching.

Sorry I meant to plus this and agree but fat fingers hit minus. I think Saints are a bear to defend (no pun intended) and are really hard to beat at home. Brees is so far ahead of Goff.

I gave it a plus one to help you out, center.
It didn't deserve it, but you are a nice guy.
We generally never give HI any credit for anything. He is much easier to put up with when he is in his natural (angry) state.

Re: Bears and Trubisky
The Bears win the North beating the Packers 24-17 today. The win also eliminates the Packers from the playoffs. This is a young team that should be good for some time if they can hold their core group together. They still rely more on their D than you would like which I think will prevent them from winning the NFC but with that D you never know. If their Offense continues to improve next year they will really have something.
The Bears have done a good job with their draft the past couple years and it's paying off for them. Eddie Jackson and Tarik Cohen were both 4th rounders in 2017. Their 1st and 2nd rounders from the 2018 draft are both starting.

I hope Eddie Jackson is OK. That looked like a bad injury.

I will gladly eat crow on the Bears this year and the Nagy hire. It's been a fun NFL season. It's been a really long time since I've been able to say that.
I hope they convince Fangio to stay. With their youth, they could be very special next year.

Re: Bears and Trubisky
Kyle Long comes off the IR the day before the Bears' last regular season game against the Vikes. While I don't expect the Bears will use him in that game, I do think they will use him in the playoffs, especially if they get a bye in the wild card round .
Eddie Jackson's ankle sprain is worrisome, especially with Bryce Callahan's season ending injury against the Rams last week. I'm betting they rest him for the next two games and hope that three weeks (four, if they get that bye) is long enough for sufficient healing to take place.
I really like their chances to make a nice run if they can stay healthy and if Long is able to come back at full strength.

Re: Bears and Trubisky
I had read somewhere a couple weeks ago where Long has been working out/practicing with them for weeks and is just waiting for the mandated time he has to sit out to end. I could very well see them at least trying to get him a couple reps against Minnesota. Especially if they have to play the opening weekend.ramblinman wrote:Kyle Long comes off the IR the day before the Bears' last regular season game against the Vikes. The last 3 seasons the Bears have played 46 games. Long has played 24. If he is the key to their success, might need to change the locks.

The glass half full retort is that he is a three time Pro-Bowler who has missed the second half of the season, making him that rare breed of O linemen who is not banged up going into the playoffs.

I hope you are right, but that seems to be at odds with what Nagy reported to the press right before last weekend that Long just stopped wearing the boot that past week.
I admit to being a little concerned that the tendon injury is on the same foot on which he had surgery a couple of years ago. That old injury still nags him, and it kept him out of a couple of practices this year, even before he re-injured it. He could be healthy as an ox in all other respects but if he is hobbled at all, that's gonna degrade his ability to achieve and maintain good balance.

Is there something minorly different about the Bears' jerseys this year?

Re: Bears and Trubisky
The Bears finish the season winning at Minnesota and knocking the Vikings out of the playoffs. As a result the Eagles will be coming to Chicago next weekend. They looked dead a month ago but will come in as a hot team winning 5 of their last 6. They are the defending Champs and are strong up front defensively. Not an easy draw and I see a low scoring game next weekend. Thoughts?
