Morris vs. Coal City

I was surprised by this week one score more than any other, but I don't follow FB around the state like I used to.

Any local knowledge on this game would be appreciated. Is Coal City going to be great this year? Did Morris just run into a buzz-saw?

Its probably just me being wrong, but I never really thought of Coal City on the same level as Morris.

Coal City has a really good group this year. Quite a few back from last year.

Morris isn't very good this season (or last season for that matter). They have a weak schedule and may get to 4 wins.

Coal City should be a decent 4A team. They had some fast guys.

Morris isn't what Morris typically usually are but they are a competitive team and will see plenty of success in their new conference. They should be a 4-5 win team this season.

Coal City is the real deal. They have several starters returning on both sides of the ball along with most of these guys getting significant playing time in their sophomore year as well.

They have solid athletes all around the field. If they stay healthy there is no reason they shouldn't be a Quarter or Semi-Final team. We will know more after this week when they take on Bishop Mac. Could be a preview of a 4A Quarterfinal or Semi-Final Game.

Morris may not be a contender for a long run in the playoffs, but they are going to be a playoff team.  Very good QB and RB.  Line might not be great but they are certainly decent.  Defense played well but had their problems with CC RB busting some nice runs.  He's a player to watch.  Wrestling state champ in 3A last year and a work horse on last year's Coaler quarter final team.   Much better this year.  He seems to get stronger as the game goes on. Coalers D was a little shaky but returning core did well but a few first game jittery talented underclassmen need a little seasoning. With Bishop Mac next week they'll get some needed forging. Key LB for CC was out as well but should return later in the season. CC has great potential but need to keep improving.

Whoever the kid was who scored the first TD was real fast.

I don't know enough about 4A football (or maybe any football), but CC seems to me like a top 8 team. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go a couple of rounds in the playoffs, depending on matchups.
