Political Quiz
Today in Civics I took the classes down to the computer lab to do a political party quiz to coincide with our studies of political parties and what they believe and etc. I then had the kids print their results so I can tell them on Monday what party the majority of them side with according to their answers. The results are somewhat surprising. Of my 66 total Civics students-
5% were identified as Socialists
6% were Libertarians
11% Constitution party
11% Democrat
23% Republican
AND
45% Women's Equality Party
Here is the quiz if you care to take the quiz yourself and post your personal results during Snowmegeddon.
https://www.isidewith.com/political-quiz
It also has a tab that allows you to see how they feel you most identify with in the 2020 election. I was identified with the Constitution party (74%) and 72% with Ben Shapiro.
I fond the Ben Shapiro thing somewhat interesting, because I don't watch or listen to any of his stuff.

Also, since the Women's Equality Party isn't exactly a big operation I looked into what those 45% of kid's second match was. They are as follows-
Republican- 10%
Socialist- 17%
Democrat 20%
Green Party- 20%
Peace and Freedom Party- 30%
Republican- 10%
Socialist- 17%
Democrat 20%
Green Party- 20%
Peace and Freedom Party- 30%

Good thing you don't watch him. You might have become suicidal upon finding you were like him.

I'll guess that if you don't like him politically, I'd probably be a fan.
My second most candidate at 72% was Rand Paul.

I'm a Green party guy.
They said I'm most aligned with Elizabeth Warren. I'm surprised. I have no Native American blood.

Shouldn't you be adding up the college bowl winner and awarding the prizes? You have to quit fooling around on the internet and do your job.

74% Libertarian
Women's Equality was next at 53%. I have never heard of the Women's Equality Party prior to this quiz. Socialist Party was 3rd at 53%.
Good find, HI. I will be using this with my Civics kids.

Re: Political Quiz
Fun little quiz. Thanks
I was
57% constitution
50% republican
44% libertarian
My best candidate was trump at 57%, although not flattering doesn't surprise me. I tend to agree with a lot of what he is doing, I just don't know I trust the why hes doing it, and I certainly don't care for how he is doing it. I suppose this also means I am a bigger asshole than I thought, that unfortunate

Political Parties:
58% democrat
56% women's equality
53% republican
53% socialist
52% green
I've always considered myself an Independent and not an ideologue and I guess this bears that out.
2020 Presidential:
61% Biden
59% Oprah
59% Trump
58% Kasich
58% Michelle Obama
As far as which of the Presidential candidate on my list that I'd actually vote for I'd probably go with Kasich.

The only Democrat I can recall voting for any office ever was Jesse White.
I wrote in Kasich for the 2016 Presidential election.
I will admit that my positions on many issues have been moderating in recent years from right to center, but I am stunned that the GOP is a distant fifth on my party affiliation list.

Very serious. I am pretty much a straight GOP voter.
As an educator, what did you think of the quality of the questions posed in this quiz? I thought they were poorly worded. For example:
Should the US assassinate suspected terrorists in foreign countries? -- Too general. What if the terrorists committed no crime against the US or US citizens?
Should the U.S. withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement? -- One of several questions that many people will answer without knowing much (or anything) about the gist of the question.
Do you support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources? -- See Paris Climate Agreement question.
Should internet service providers be allowed to speed up access to popular websites (that pay higher rates) at the expense of slowing down access to less popular websites (that pay lower rates)? -- Is this really a litmus test type of issue with bold lines drawn between political parties such that falling on either side of that line will determine which way you lean? Or is it a sponsored question from some lobbying group or association that paid to have this question placed in the quiz so that they can see how people feel about this outlier issue?
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school? -- Is this really the issue? Or is the issue whether or not to require teachers to carry guns in school.
Do you support increasing taxes for the rich in order to reduce interest rates for student loans? -- FEDERAL student loans, student loans purchased in the marketplace, or both? I support increasing taxes for the rich, but what if I don’t support doing so to reduce interest rates for student loans? Should I really answer no then?
Should immigrants be deported if they commit a serious crime? -- LEGAL or ILLEGAL immigrants? I would answer that question very differently depending on their status. BTW, the placement of this question is interesting in that it happened immediately after two questions that concerned illegal immigration.
Should the government fund space travel? -- Space TRAVEL sounds very different to me than space EXPLORATION. Do they really mean travel as in a leisure/recreational activity (because that is becoming a “thing”), or do they mean exploration to increase our knowledge base?

Mine was heavy Democrat/Green party which didn’t surprise me. But if Ron Swanson was ever up for office, I’d be 100% Libertarian

Re: Political Quiz
I told the kids, and did so myself when taking it, to choose an answer, but rank it very low on your priority list if you don't know what it means. I think some of them were to measure gut reaction/emotion more than more complex things. That may be why some were so vague.ramblinman wrote:Head Idiot wrote:Are you being serious? And I wasn't trying to be catty by my response. I've always kind of thought by your posts that you were pretty liberal.

I admit that I take a more progressive stance towards issues of gun control and universal health care. Those are really the only political issues that I can recall posting about here. However, my stances on the military and abortion, for example, are solidly in line with traditional GOP positions on those issues.

Finally got around to getting the quiz done with my Civics kids. I have 23 seniors. Here's their result for the political parties with whom they most agree.
Most Similar:
2nd Most Similar:
3rd Most Similar:
The Women's Equality Party did not even show up when we did the quiz yesterday.
I did not record the Presidential candidates whom they were most similar to.
