Assistant Coach Openings

Nokomis- We have a FB Coach/Science teacher retiring at the end of the year. Looking to replace with a football guy. If you know any please reach out.

Can someone with admin rights make this post stay up top^ with the head coaching openings?

Keokuk, Iowa--I've been waiting for our school to finally officially post this--it hasn't happened yet--but in case anyone is looking to move into Iowa, our head coach job is open and possibly as many as three football assistant spots depending on how the process shakes out.

We may have a slew of teaching openings too, but I have to wait until the "in-house" claiming process works before I can post those.

Sullivan Okaw Valley has anticipated openings in PE, Science and Elementary ed with coaching stipends available as an assistant football, basketball and potentially positions in track (I will gladly get out of track if you desire it).  Football wise, looking for a WR/DB coach and lower level HC/Coordinator.  Multiple football positions potentially available.

Georgetown has multiple teaching openings.  We have at least one Football Paid Position open as well.  We also will have the Head Boys Track position open.  Other assistant positions often come up.  

The High School is anticipating adding Athletic PE next year.  

The Junior High will have a PE opening as well.

The High School has a History Job also.

History High School History

The two PE jobs have not yet been officially posted outside the district per our contact, but will be soon.  

We are also in contract negotiations to ratify a new contract starting in June.

Mahomet-Seymour High School has a math opening and an assistant football coaching opening. Other extra-curricular positions available.

Standard stuff that our lawyers are starting to throw in there. That is my best guess. Who knows.

I just wondered. Never seen that in a listing before.

Me either. But sometimes I have no idea who is running the posting site. I know it is not done by the individual school admin.

Remember when my position got posted there on job bank, and it really was not open?

We filled the Social Studies Job at the High School

Still have the JH and HS PE jobs. The HS PE job is Athletic PE

I posted above anticipating openings, but I think pretty much everything has been claimed and filled, albeit unofficially in some cases.

We filled the Athletic PE position at the high school.

We still have the Junior High Position open. We ratified our contract. This included a nice bump in coaching pay along with some decent incentives within the contract.(long overdue)

Plainfield South has multiple football and basketball coaching openings.

There are special ed openings, but may be others if possible. If anyone is interested, contact asst. athletic director, Chet Lines at clines@psd202.org.

It's getting tough downstate. We are a destination district by most measures and we struggle to find qualified applicants in a few fields. Social Studies and English are the only fields you can be confident in having a solid candidate pool, and even those are a fraction of what they were just a few years ago.

Universities are graduating fewer teaching candidates and, at least according to one 2016 study, we are retaining fewer teachers in the profession overall.

We are not in desperate straits, yet. However, I cannot imagine the difficulties many smaller schools face in filling positions.

The numbers of students taking the content area tests are dwindling greatly.  This graphic was circulating around social media a couple weeks ago.  I don't know the source, but from what I've seen, it's probably close to accurate.  The numbers for Health and PE were especially surprising to me.

Cerro Gordo has had a district wide choral opening advertised since Feb/March and haven't been able to fill it. Sullivan had a science job open earlier in the year and 3 or 4 people applied. They had a math job open last week and I don't think they're real optimistic about filling it before the start of school. Even SS job applicants are dwindling. I think CG only had like 10-15 applicants when I left. They interviewed 6 or 7 I think when I got the job in 2010.

We had a English/Spanish opening. I know it's a unique certification but had only 1 applicant.

I believe the state is lowering the tough standards they implemented a few years ago for the Basic Skills test which should help more people go into teaching.

I have mixed feelings about that. I realize that they need to do something to fill jobs, but I don't know that I like the idea of lowering standards of intelligence for my kids' future teachers.

I agree but I think that standards are pretty tough soy belief is they are going back to the test from when most of us took the test.

Wow, great info. I remember 10 or so years ago when there would be 100 applicants for a job.

I guess I need to go back and become a teacher in my next life.

Saw that today Sullivan posted their math job in virtually every category on the job site saying essentially they'll take anyone with a teaching cert for the job.
