Money v Notorious

Post by crusader on Thu Aug 24, 2017 2:39 pm

Does the Irishman have a "puncher's chance" against one of the greatest pugilists ever?

Will the glove size have much impact - Floyd has fought with eight ounces but McGregor has only fought with four.

While taking a dive is always possible, would Floyd do that - even with HUGE sums were to be made? My guess is that EGO would say no ... but he is a Vegas stalwart. If he loses, some casino doors might shut --- would that be incentive to lose and gain controlling interest in one? (Can he as a felon?)

Anyone planning to pay for it? I'm not ... but I'll still be watching if I get home in time. (Twin A moves into DePaul Sunday and we are having dinner Saturday in Schaumburg and I then drive north of the Cheddar Curtain.)

no, I would not. I truly have no interest in the latest version of the "fight of the century".

More so, anyone contributing to Mayweather's IRS bailout/McGregor's retirement plan by paying to watch this is a complete idiot IMO.  WWE is less contrived and fake than this farce.

And it's free on Monday and Tuesday.

I will be doing the same along with prepping for a tough Week 2 matchup.

Unless the fight involves Soda Popinski or Bald Bull I have little to no interest.

Mayweather - unanimous decision in a fight that goes the distance and is a major embarrassment.

It was not boring at all - quite the opposite. There was action all along, big shots by both, tide changes and a display of two different styles.

At the get-go, it was McGregor - the much larger and powerful man. That was obvious. McGregor roughed him up, pushed him around - early. I gave him the first three rounds and the fifth.

Mayweather was damaged by some shots - an unfortunate one was a legit body shot the ref called low and pulled McGregor to the far corner. Had that been allowed to play out, who knows.

But Floyd was the same masterful tactician as always. Even at 40, he still has some electric hands - so quick. He weathered the storm and as McGregor faded, turned into the aggressor, landing shot after shot with precision at the end. The only rounds he dominated were 9 and 10.

The ref made the right boxing call to end it when he did, but McGregor could have kept going or would have been happier to been knocked out properly. There's no shame in that - he lost to Floyd Mayweather, for God's sake.

Food for thought - McGregor landed more punches (111) than Pacquiao (81) and six less than Canelo.

Well worth my investment - which was an extra thick mocha malt from Oscar's Custard ($4.97).
