Redskin's Controversy Revisited

Post by OSUBucks on Mon Jun 19, 2017 1:41 pm

We had a thread on here a while back about whether or not Washington had a right to call their team the Redskins. The Obama Administration instructed their Trade and Patent Office not to renew the trademark and the Skins took them to court. The SCOTUS made a ruling today in a separate case that will likely result in the Redskins prevailing on this issue. As far as the constitution is concerned I think this was the right decision.

I do not miss the Obama administration overstepping their boundaries and trying to force their personal views on others one bit.

Right. This administration doesn't do any of that.

How have they?  The travel ban?  Given the last two terror attacks in England have been perpetrated by people recently returning from those countries idk that that is imposing personal beliefs on anyone.

They certainly have not used the Attorney General and the Justice Department as their personal belief enforcer. The Obama administration sued a state that was trying to actually enforce federal immigration law because he didn't want it enforced.

But, I'm wasting my breath anyway.  Obama was obviously infallible.

Technically, you are wasting your keystrokes.

You think American citizens who travel to those six countries should be prevented from returning to the US for 90 days?

I wasn't really thinking of the travel ban. How about the bathroom ban?

How about bringing back coal as as the favored fuel of this administration? Even if we prefer a cleaner alternative.

How about scuttling Obamacare even though it's four times more popular than the republican house alternative?

Yeah, they also want to shove their agenda down our throats, regardless of what we want.

I think the most recent terrorism in London was conducted by this guy. He had never been in the six countries.

Good job trying to turn this into another one of your rants about Trump when it has nothing to do with him. I was really tired last night and momentarily fell into the trap.

Silly me.

It was a Belleville Democrat who shot the Representative in DC last week.

Exactly!

A travel ban would not have stopped that nutjob.

Oh my God....you don't see that it was your post about the Obama administration that changed the subject of this thread?

How could you be such a pinhead?

The original article was about the Obama administration and their overstepping power.

Trump has nothing to do with this case, you took it there.

The original article was one that I read....and you did not. If you did, you are a very poor reader.

It was about a supreme court decision, several actually. Any mention of the Obama administration was invented in your imagination.

You changed the subject....and then bitched about me changing it. How can we believe anything you type?

Here is what the article says about the law that was struck down:

The case centered on the 1946 Lanham Act, which in part prohibits registration of a trademark that “may disparage . . . persons, living or dead, institutions, beliefs, or national symbols, or bring them into contempt, or disrepute.”

In 1946 Mr. Obama had not yet been invented.

Pinhead.
