Woodstock Eats

Post by Head Skin on Tue Jun 06, 2017 8:46 pm

I know a few of you guys are from around up there or have spent some time in the area. Going up Friday to run another Spartan Saturday in Richmond. Any suggestions on where to eat Friday night in the Woodstock area?

I have never eaten in downtown Woodstock. However, I know there are several pubs/restaurants around the town square and in some of the streets that lead off of it. It's a very well preserved/maintained small town America type of town square that was the location for many of the outdoor scenes in the movie Groundhog Day. Don't know anything about the eats, but the ambience on a late spring/early summer Friday night around the square is probably pretty interesting.

+1 ramblinman.

That's fantastic information to know. I love that movie. Just downloaded the walking tour from the town. May just check out the Mexican restaurant that was the diner in the movie.

True story- went to see Groundhog Day with my first "serious" girlfriend who I "dated" for three months. Turns out that about 4 years after we dated she decided that she wasn't into guys and traded teams.

Therefore if Woodstock has anything to do with my getting laid, based upon previous experiences it won't happen.

However, I'm pretty sure my wife is not a lesbian, so I think that changes my chances.

The Mexican was really good.

The vibe of the town was a little left of my tastes. Beautiful downtown, gorgeous homes, lots of tie died shirts (3 instances) and man buns.

When Joe Walsh was in Congress, his office was on the square - had lunch there a few times with him.

No, the Congressman was not sporting a "man bun" during our meetings ...

And far from typical - he's a nut!

I heard on the radio the other day that the man bun would be this generations' version of the mullet, in terms of how future generations view the style. Personally, I think that's giving the man bun too much credit...

We should all grow mullets and meet at that Mexican place before a good football game this fall.

McHenry County is "left"? I'm terrified of what passes as the center, or even "right", to you. That place has been a right-wing haven since WWII ended.

Speaking of right-wing nutjobs... that sounds a little bit more like the McHenry County I remembered growing up.
