Kids' Games

Post by crusader on Fri Apr 21, 2017 9:35 am

In front of my home last night were nine boys playing with a bat and a ball. They were not playing baseball.

What were they doing?

Ding, ding, ding!

Last fall, I dumped a lot of sporting equipment on these boys - all Indian kids. Dozens of tennis and wiffle balls, old gloves, bases, youth softball bats and soccers balls of all sizes. I organized them a little bit on the black top too - teaching them wiffleball and how to rotate for batting practice.

Then their dads came home - they are brothers and fathers of the kids ranging from 3 to 10. They saw what I did, thanked me and then broke out cricket gear to teach THEIR game to the boys. While they no longer use the round bats I gave them, they use all of the balls. And they use the batting tee I gave them as a wicket. How perfect!

I pitched that first time - and rotated them to all get a chance to hit. After that, no, but I will shag a rouge throw if it's near me.

Tee will get his steak dinner some day ... you might too, net.

I'm changing jobs - giving up my legislative responsibilities in Illinois. my lease ends at the end of June, then traveling with the girls before they go to college and relocating to the Milwaukee area.

Last summer, the plan was for me to take over the Cali office but this is better for me with the girls going to DePaul and U of I. And I will be able to buy a home in a year or two. In SoCal, a two-bedroom condo in the valley near the office is $500k!

Those kids need to assimilate.

Otherwise, they will become suicide bombers in a few years. I'm sure I read that somewhere.

We should force them to play baseball or send them back to their country of origin.

Do you and khal teach a seminar on the weekends on stirring the pot? Very Happy

It is good to see you have emerged successfully from your tax time hole.
