Recently one of the stations in town started selling 85 octane.  NOT E85.  Same price as the other stations in town (I think it was 2.59 at the time)  Well, they apparently did not change the big signs and only the small signs on the pumps changed.  Many folks in town did not notice right away and were pumping 85 into their cars.

Couple of days later, my kid tells me his car is not running right.  Took a couple of min to figure out what fuel he has been putting in there.  Apparently 1996 Honda Civics with 120K miles do not like 85 octane.

Funny thing is that both stations are selling their lowest grade for the same price.
Is the 85 octane place owned by someone not of this country originally?

Village Pantry. Part of a Phillips 66 corp. Not an independent owned place.

The rest of the story is that they got fined for having 85 octane there instead of the 87. Not sure if it was because it was mislabeled or because it is too low for the area. When I travel out west in the mountains, 85 is common because of altitude. I am not sure of the scientific reason but everyone else out there uses 85.

He was here for three weeks then went back for a history class. Heath and all the football players from Texas had to play the game of keeping their mouths shut to get a good grade because their beliefs were different than the instructor. We flew him back for his Grandmother's funeral (thank you again for the flowers). Sue and I went down there on the spur of the moment for five days. He is working the OU cross country camp and has been running twice a day all summer. He bitched about how Illinois is hot and humid. In Oklahoma, it is just hot. I hope summer football is going well.
