2012 IHSA Wrestling

Had to post this article about one of my former students who just qualified for state at 106. He spent most of last year in a halo after breaking his neck messing around with friends. He's certainly not the favorite to win, but what a path he's traveled to get to this point.

I like Luc Joseph at 220... 40-0, had a pin to win regionals, dominated his sectional with a pin and a couple majors. Plus he has good blood lines...

I predict that many 1A champions will come from Ogle County and the surrounding border counties of the Great Ogleinians.

3 of the 4 sectional qualifiers from Morris went into Whiteside County (which is next to Ogle County) and came out with a trip to Champaign. Good luck to them, too!

+1 for the story on the kid with the broken neck.
Good luck to all the Ogleian kids (and kids who are lucky enough to live in a county that touches Ogle).
I sure hope Luc Joseph is from one of those counties or he has very little hope.

I'm so out of the wrestling loop I forgot sectionals was Fri/Sat until Saturday around noon.

cant think off hand of anyone who could compete with a co-opped ogle county team of oregon, byron and of course THE VALLEY in 3-4a. 3 schools within 5-8 miles of each other?

I was referring more to fb tho! Were you guys in that sectional? Who advanced in team comp, Dakota?

I'm obviously not that intelligent, but I'm pretty sure that combining 3 4A schools in football doesn't keep you in 4A.

Always so literal you are! THE Valley would field all the starters of course. Byron and Oregon could provide kickoff teams as we'd never have to punt!

Luc moves to 42-0 with a 5-4 decision over the kid from Richmond. In his 41 previous bouts, no one had come closer than 4 points. Could be a little tougher from here on out...
