Head Skin wrote:Beef jerky is good. Maybe try some cottage cheese for protein. If you can get the right kind it's 160 calories with about 24-30 grams of protein per cup.
I eat a crap ton of it. I try to eat about 200 grams of protein a day and cottage cheese is usually my go to post lift snack if I'm close to home. Otherwise I just have a scoop of protein powder in water. It's disgusting but it gets you your protein.
Good job so far and keep up the good work.
Sam's club has a protein shake that's not bad and 30g, also a bar version. Shakes are only 160 Cal, bars are 280-290.

Re: fat man challenge
I usually have a protein powder shake now after lifting since I'm on the road after weights. Has 30 grams and about 150is calories. Not awesome tasting, but it does the job.
I like the cliff builder's bars for protein bars. Vanilla almond is my favorite, but I also like the chocolate mint.

Re: fat man challenge
So, long time, no talk.
Planning on getting back on the wagon next Monday. Weighed 272 this morning AFTER my run. Weights have rebounded recently as I’ve gotten more serious about throwing around big weights. Unfortunately I have been catching some of the weight apparently. Moving this August really messed up the diet efforts. Moved the Saturday/Sunday before camp started and have been pretty exhausted since.
Short term goal is 260 by thanksgiving.
Current weights
Squat- 425x3
Bench- 355x5- after dipping to 325 this summer
DL- 500x2

Re: fat man challenge
Not going to admit a weight yet as it is more than I want to claim, but I have actually lost 5 pounds this season, which for me is amazing. I'm normally good for at least a 15-20 pound gain during football season.

I'm down 10 pounds since visiting the grandson in Texas. Need to shed a quick 20 more before BabyBird's wedding December 2nd.
I actually ran two miles today. Ouch.

That's a pretty good pace for a guy your size (no offense). I think we should do one of those Spartan races this spring. Your participation in those last year kind of peaked my interest.

I will let you know how it goes.
As far as my weight is concerned, I'll pass on any details. It's not good. I did do my 6 miles last Sat at 1001 pace.

I'm not going to admit what I let myself get up to, but I'm down 9 pounds since the 2nd. To motivate me, a friend isn't going to make me pay my share of the hotel for a trip to Florida if I make 250 by the end of March.

Re: fat man challenge
I'm down 9 pounds in the last 7 days, going pretty much low carb/no carb... less than 10 per day.
And not not hungry.
Breakfast: Bullet coffee (30oz) - coffee, 2 tbsn grass-fed butter, 2 tbsn coconut oil, 2 tbsn real cream, blended.
Lunch: can of tuna in oil with real mayo, cojack cheese, and dill pickle
Snack: 16 oz coffee with cream (no other stuff)
Dinner: Meat, cheese, green veggies, ranch dressing, french onion dip... anything high fat, locarb
Anytime snack: 4 blueberries followed by a squirt of real whipped cream from the aerosol can.
Exercise: daily 3-4 mile hike with pups
Punta Cana in 4 weeks!

So are you telling us for breakfast, you are eating butter? Straight out of the tub? And same with oil and cream? or do you put that in your coffee?

Re: fat man challenge
Sorry, that's the recipe for bullet coffee: coffee, butter, oil, cream IN A BLENDER... sounds awful. but I add some Sweet-N-Lo and it tastes pretty good actually.... probably like a Starbuck's, but I've never been to Starbuck's, so I'm not sure....

I've gotten to the point that after having done it for about 10 years now, if I don't get it done I feel like crap. Getting about 13-13.5 miles a week. Run Tues, Thurs and Sat.19delta wrote:Head Skin wrote:278 after the run this morning. Didn't weigh before. It was 545.

198.2 after a month. That's about 17 pounds.
Course, I bucked a hundred bales of hay this morning, so I might be "light."

Down 15 since Jan 2nd...but haven't made any real progress for a week now. Eating habits okay, but have really struggled to find workout motivation lately, which normally is never a problem.

I am back on the wagon after a particularly bad season and holidays. I have a long way to go, but I'm making progress. I got up to 246 in early January -> down to 232. Near goal is sub-220 and long term goal is 205.

Re: fat man challenge
I haven't weighed myself - no sense with a cast - but I can see it in the mirror that I'm down. Haven't had a drink for two weeks - not on crutches and pills - and I eat less because it's a pain in the ass to cook.
Will see how much I weigh in two months with no cast or boot.

230.6 this AM. I don't weigh in every day. Usually at most I get on the scale twice per week. The daily fluctuations can be discouraging for me. I know daily weighing is important for some folks to stay on track.
